57 Plate Leon....BAP or DDP?

Recommended Posts

Seems as good a plate to ask......

Someone's interested in buying my RNS315, but wants to know if it will keep his MFSW etc on a 57 plate SEAT Leon. I know that RNS315 is BAP only, but I don't know about the Leon.

Is a 57 Leon way too early for BAP anyway?

I imagine like the Octavia, BAP replaced DDP in the face lift which I think was around 2009, but certainly after late 2007 - early 2008. I looked at an 08 Leon for myself before my 08 Octavia and it was definitely a pre FL with the older red dot DDP display (though at the time I thought that was better as it was like my Dad's Audi!!)

He could of course buy the Polar converter box for 120 euros from carsystems.pl although it makes getting full price for your unit a little trickier...

Thanks Adam. :)

I had a feeling it would be DDP, but also remembering that not everyone gets the new toys at the same ;)

IIRC when I asked in the Polar forum. the Polar will restore some functions, but not others, MFSW being one of them. I'd already installed the RNS510 when I got my Polar box, so I couldn't test it.

I have one and it definitely converts DDP to BAP somewhere, allowing me to use the newest BT BAP only modules on my pre FL Octy (it shows and pairs via maxi dot).

I didn't need to tick the BAP box on my RNS510 coding and it also works with an older DDP only Stream MP3 and my DDP MFSW, so my guess is it reads DDP and then only re interprets as BAP when required in passing a signal to each module. And given it works with my BAP only BT module, it should I hope also work with other BAP only modules like your RNS315.

You have VCDS don't you? If so why not try and see what happens when you tick BAP on your RNS510?

I supose, with the weekend looming, I could stick the 315 back in and see what happens. Although not going to too much effort into this one ;)

I was thinking just plugging in vcds and changing the rns510 to bap and seeing what happens with your polar fis. As I understand it the full polar fis incorporates the same tech as the 120 euro converter box...

I ended up doing some bits on the Scout and so took the 510 out. Whilst it was out I stuck the 315 in.

I have to report that.......no, the Polar doesn't make the 315 work in a pre.......no MFSW functions, no display in MaxiDot (which doesn't even acknowledge the presence of 315)

I did remember to wipe the 315 though before taking it back out ;)
