I have a 12 plate fabia Monte which you remapped for me which is awesome by the way, Just wondering if this recall because of the emissions scandal affect the map on the car ?

Depends on if the update is a patch update or a full update ,dealers would advise map is removed fully before update as there have been cases of ecu's crashing whilst being updated ,rendering the ecu unusable because of the map ,ecu would then have to be replaced at customers cost ,as far as I know because your car has been mapped you would not have the issue with nox ,dealers will get you to sign a form stating veh has been mapped and remove it from the recall list with no further action

This seems like a lot of assumptions, VW don't even have a clear idea of how to fix it yet (supposedly)

I would love to ask the same question px53jdj (?) did but until the fix is known and the Sharks guys get a look at the process nobody is going to know what effect it'll have, it might even mean a new remap would need to be written for the car.

Let's just wait and see, hopefully Ben will stick something on the shark blog or article page about it when they learn anything.

Spoke to shark and they have said they will re flash the map back on after the update from Skoda

So Skoda take the map off and put on a standard map then you take it back to shark to have the map you just had put on taken off so you can have the map you put on that was taken off to put the standard map on to be taken off back on?

Sounds like an unnecessary farce to me. Just leave it.

But if the updated "factory" map is wiped to be replaced with a re-map then it won't matter what Skoda map it had on whether it is updated or not surely. The re-map changes it all and that is going to remain the same.

But when remap is deleted it'll be reverted back to post emissions crisis map

But he won't delete the re-map. And if whoever gets the car next deletes the re-map would the dealers be able to charge to have it updated? Surely not. Especially if it was done during a service. And if he sells it to a dealer without updating it then the dealers will have to update it for nothing anyway.

I just don't think it's worth the hassle for the OP.

But there is talk of mot's being revoked and a new updated emissions test, and if the update isn't carried out it wil fail,as I was just going to ignore the recall, but if they revoke the mot and update the emissions test the car will fail
