Anyone going to this year's Bike Show at the NEC?

As per the title - anyone going this year and if so what are you after?

I want to try and get a good price for an AGV LCD visor for my Corsa lid. My mate has the same lid as me so we are hoping to get some kind of discount for buying 2 given that AGV don't do light reactive pinlocks for the visor as Shoei do - robbing stunts!! :D

There are a few of us going on Saturday 5th December.

Oh yeah, and I might sit on a few bikes and admire the scantily clad ladies :p

Yeah I'm booked to go with grr666 again. Went last year also :)

We went last year and I sat on a GSX-R 750 Moto GP edition which resulted in a test ride a few months later as the queue was horrendously long which resulted in me ordering a brand new one.

If the same happens this year I don't think the wife will be too happy :D

Having not been before, after looking at the website, if you pre ok tickets are they not day specific. In other words, pay your money and go on whatever day you choose ?

Thanks

Yeah go whichever day you want, they do ask which day you expect to go but you are not bound in any way to go on the day you specified.

I'm going Sat 5th, myself my two boys and my dad, a bit of bike related day out for the boys :)

Last year my mate phoned up and told them it was his birthday & was there anything they could do in terms of discounted tickets or parking & they gave him free VIP parking which saved us all getting wet as it was slashing down   :D

So what were people's thoughts on the show? What did you buy or considering for next year.

I was happy to find the MT10 was what I'd hoped it would be, test ride coming next year.

Panagalie is lovely, same about the price.

I only bought myself an abba stand lift kit, £12 off the normal price.

Better than I expected but won't be going next year.

First time for me this year, it's was good but think I will only go every other year or so.

Nice to have a look and sit on bikes. Agree that the Panagalie was lovely but looked a bit silly under my 17 stone 6'2" frame. Is it me or are new bike models getting smaller while car models get bigger?

Bought some ACF50 and Sdoc chain lube as well as a Kreiga tail bag, but to be honest there was little to no great discount on those products to be had :(

Not just you, they are getting smaller and faster all the time.

If you go to the NEC show to buy a specific item, whether it's a helmet, jacket or accessory, chances are you won't get the cheapest deal.

If you aren't so fussy about what you want and just look out for bargains on end of line items you can get some cracking deals. We've got a brand new boxed open face helmet for about a tenner, a really nice cream leather jacket for my GF for £20 and so on.

Bargains seem to stop years ago. Had I been looking for something I would have probably bought online. Best thing for the show now is for trying sizes then getting later.

I'm now looking forward to next year and getting some test rides in, especially as there'll be a new Ducati  dealer opening in the new year.

We went on the last Saturday & was very disappointed at the gear / traders as I was after an Alpinestars Gore-tex jacket and a LCD visor for my AGV corsa lid.

My mate went on the 1st weekend and he has the same lid as me so he was on the lookout for 2 LCD visors. He got offered 2 for £220 which is pretty good considering most places want £150 each and occasionally you can find them for £130 ish on-line. He declined as he knew that I was going the following weekend and we both thought that last weekend = bargains - how wrong were we!!  I got offered 2 x visors at £125 each to which I pointed out that my mate had been offered cheaper the weekend before - they were not interested and I could not find the jacket I wanted anywhere. Rumour has it from people that my mate knows at J&S is that all traders were taking old stock which was another disappointment.

As for the bikes, I am a sports-bike fan and love the look of the Ducati's but couldn't help notice the massive influx of retro bikes which are great to look at, I just don't think I am old enough to ride one yet  :D

The BMW NineT - various versions such as the cafe racer and the scrambler looked amazing as did the Triumph Street twin & the various versions of that.

The only real positive of the day was that I managed to get a picture with me and the legend that is McPint after years of chasing him at the TT

Overall, a little disappointed compared to last year as there wasn't anything significantly new.  I'll probably leave it for next year unless there is some major hype / new releases.

I went for the 1st time in years and enjoyed it, though the traders part was a bit hit and miss trying to find stuff (I had a list of things I wanted with the prices I could get them for online) I got a set of SW Motach engine bars for my GS 10% cheaper than online inc. free delivery and an optimate from Infinity but nothing else. I tried to find some gloves for SWMBO but most dealers I asked said they had a better range in their shops and only bought stuff they knew they could sell (or old stuff they wanted rid of?) The free off road BMW stand was good fun and I picked up a few good tips. The Triumph and BMW stands were busy but even so you could get a sit on most bikes on any stand either straight away or after a short wait. I sat on the "Low" Multistrada and was still on tippy toes and the new 959 panigale felt like the bars went through the front wheel spindle so I'm not what Ducati are looking for!
