Front Door Rivets....

Recommended Posts

After replacing my window regulator last week (a horrible affair), I used my rivets on the panel.

Today, the window got stuck halfway and then disappeared, so something is not right.

I want to use the right rivets this time, but could do with getting them today. I can see they are N91078801 but nowhere tells me what size they are.

Any hints?

Cheers.

You will also need to know at what torque the rivet breaks off (the actual name of the figure escapes me at the moment). Not all rivets are equal so it's probably worth grabbing some genuine ones. Are you replacing the whole panel, just the regulator or just the repair kit?

Here you go.

Shaft (steel) 3.65mm dia. (bigger than many tools take)

Head dia. 11mm

Length (from under head to end of ball) 14mm

Rivet (aluminium) dia 6.4mm

It kept moving around which makes my picture less clear!

Cheers for the replies, guys.

It was just the whole panel the other week, the motor itself was fine.

Window was working okay, then last night got stuck at halfway, went back to the top and then in five minutes time dropped and disappeared.

Need to take it apart to see what the problem is, but wanted to try and sort it quickly. Nearest Skoda garage is about 40 mins walk, but not sure they are open today so wanted a back-up if I could get them from Halfords or similar.

That should be pinned for future use! So many people ask about them.

They won't be open on a Sunday no.

As said though you want the right ones or they won't have the correct clamping force. If the window has dropped down either the regulator has broken or the window has come out of the clamps somehow.

Yeah, realised this after I had rang them! lol

Hoping it has just come out of the clamps, will find out in the coming days.

Any solutions other than bin/recycling bags sellotaped to the window to keep out the wet?

  • 3 weeks later...

Anyone know what size screws/ bolts attach the actual mechanism to the door.

I've lost them and dont know what size they are.

Fitted the new regulator but need to finish it off now. Been few months now and its getting irritating.

Which bolts do you mean? The window regulator is riveted to the carrier with pop rivets.

I assume he means the 3 large Philips head screws, same as 13mm bolts I think and the 3 small torx screw along the bottom.

You mean for the door card?

Thanks for the replys.

The rivets i bought were too thin. I got them from skoda parts website...but my mechanic just drilled a seperate hole for the rivets i had to make them fit.

Here's a pic if what i mean.

Its the 3 screws im after. That connect the mechanism to the panel.

Looks like you bought the rivets for riveting the regulator to the door carrier (N90765701) rather than the 6.4mm ones (N91078801) for mounting carrier to door.
