Arrived - MY16 Skoda Rapid Spaceback - Corrida Red - Photos / Ownership Thread

Recommended Posts

Looks fantastic in red with all the sport bits. Love the interior too.

I'm surprised how different the interior is to mine (MY15) Instrument cluster, Amundsen is completely different etc.

Enjoy it mate.

Could you please post a list of times and locations where the car will be left unattended and out of the sight of CCTV - I would really like to steal your seats and fit them in mine :)

Good looking motor - fingers crossed you have many years of trouble-free motoring.

I am surprised to see that the fuel and temperature gauge have "reverted" to dials compared to my MY16 Toledo which has bar type display for these.Personally I prefer the dials.Very attractive car  by the look of the photos.

Dispointed that it does not have a engine cover !!! But guess it does not matter... Least it has insultation /sound damping on the under bonnet .

Is it normal for one not to be fitted.??

Looks nice. It's the cheap door cards that let it down though

True, but on the flip side, I don't think he'll be worrying about the door cards 'blistering' with people leaning their elbows on it as I do in my MKII Octy Scout!

And it'll be a doddle to wipe over with some APC!

Mine appears to be a MY16 then, as I have same seats, Amundsen, dials etc. As for the door cards, I can confirm they are very easy to keep clean - even with an 8 year old centre Forward clambering in and out of the back in muddy footy kit on a Saturday morning...

Nice looking car. Amazing how what many would call a 'boring, conservative design' can be really lifted with a bit of bling (nice seats, wheels, contrasting coloured mirrors and twinkly lights)

Is that 3 or 4 cylinder?

And what are the power and torque figures?

Lovely interior and a nice update on the original rapid interiors.

All the best with this one, big car year chez vous!

It's a 3 cylinder diesel, 230 torque with 90 bhp if I remember correctly.

Having now rolled over to 35 miles, the engine is nippy enough through the lower rev range and pulls its weight well meeting my expectations of a 90bhp unit, it is what it is kind of thing..

No rattles as yet and feels solid and well built and much better than a Golf Mk6.

The drivers door cards are a bit plastic as mentioned above but the elbow rest is padded .

So far it's pulled 36mpg over 35miles over 2 hours plus all local driving not exceeding aprox 50mph with a fair amount of sitting on idle while I have been having a play sorting out phone connections, radio stations etc...

The main plus point is the Mrs really likes HER new car and the kids love the panno roof.

Cheers

Happy and safe miles RickTT!

The missing engine cover is normal, don't worry about that.

Can you make a video of a short drive? I am curious to see the difference between the 1.4 and the older 1.6 TDI on the Rapid.

Once I find my GoPro and chest mount I can do, :)

The sound /noise of this engine pleasantly surprised me, its got a good tone to it.... it does not sound like a 3 cylinder hair dryer! , it in fact sounds like the old PD engine if i had to compare it. Its not the quietest engine with the radio off under load,  but certainly not the most offensive!

Thanks for the feedback. No need for a go pro, you only need a mobile phone and a friend to hold it!

My daughter's car did come with an engine cover...but no bonnet insulation!  (hers is a 1.2 TSI 110) but otherwise it looks exactly the same.

As I understand, the corrida red colour costs £150 or so extra.

The car does drive very well and feels solid, then again so it should after barely 2 months!

Hope you enjoy it and congratulations RickTT!

I like the dials layout better than the MY16 Toledo, but not the font on them.

Question - Why is red the free colour on SEAT but not on Skoda?

Lovely looking Spacey I must say - wrong tyres though.

Looks really nice, I particularly like the new style wheels and seats. Have you thought about lowering springs, Skoda can fir them so they don't void your warranty and they really transform the look, ride and handling. Just make sure they fit the correct kit, which in your case it will be as it's the heavier diesel model.
