New (for me) Car

Recommended Posts

So, on Friday I part ex'd my 10 year old Octy Elegance DSG Est with 89k on the clock for a 60 plate Superb Elegance DSG Est with 44500 miles. What a car! I am stunned by the space in it, no more roof box for F1 Silverstone Camping, it drives like, and looks like it's just come from the factory. Absolutely brilliant car. Well done Skoda...Again!

i'm new to the Superb also, only have mine six months. I loved the way you got to discover new little things like the boot curry hooks, door umbrella, rear sun shade, cubbie holes, etc..... Skoda really are a "clever" car.....Enjoy:)

The only car I can see myself trading what I have for is the Superb III - which is prettier and even bigger :). And the sunglasses holder is big enough for sunglasses... This being the first thing to spring to mind when I looked over a Superb III today says a lot about the full extent of my issues with the design of the Superb II :). The only downgrades I've found on the III are that you lose the B pillar vents for rear seat passengers and the turning circle is nearly 3% bigger...

Some downgrades in standard spec between the new Style and the old elegance spec - heated rear seats, park assist... Certainly wouldn't be deal breakers for me though.  I'd miss the overhead LEDs over the central console which I think have disappeared in the SIII and if beige leather goes I'll be going elsewhere!  Not a fan of the aluminium look on the dash inserts and much prefer the older wood trim effect.

The new model is very nice but I'm certainly not disappointed to be driving an SII.  Normally I'm itching to get my hands on the latest model but I think the SII still looks and drives really well.  I know the styling was always questionable from some angles but in a way I like its uniqueness and it has a certain touch of class and uniqueness about it that might just be lacking in the new Superb which is clearly designed to be at the top of the pile in the volume stakes so will end up being very common on the roads.

The boot on the MkII Superb is actually very similar in size to that of the MkII Octavia estate, the big difference between the two being the rear sear leg room, which on the Superb is simply massive!

I picked up my 10 plate SII Estate Elegance 170 DSG 2 years ago with 25k on the clock. It's now got 67k miles & it took me nearly a year to find all the features & how to use them. Previous owner of my car had it fully loaded. Heated front screen (really handy in this weather), park assist (never used it yet), electric tailgate (was that an option?), tyre pressure monitoring, heated rear seats (std or option?). Everyone to a man (& woman) has commented on the rear seat legroom. Absolutely enormous & they haven't pinched any space from the boot either which is equally cavernous. Currently averaging 58mpg on my 82 mile daily commute.

Previously I had an 03 Audi A6 Estate 1.9tdi manual. Had it for 10years & put 160k miles on it (still have the car - off road in front garden if anyone interested). Good car but my dodgy left knee cap was giving me considerable grief so I had to find a replacement estate car with an auto box. Best choice I've ever made & best car I've ever had also.
