Replacement date for current Rapid

Recommended Posts

I don't think that info has been announced yet, but based on normal product cycles, I would say we'll see the new 7 seat 'Kodiak' first, then Facelifted Octavia, new Yeti, then maybe new Rapid? It was launched in 2012 so probably due for replacement around 2018?

It had just a 'facelift' this year. First one will be on the road in june?

Bigest changes: side blinkers in the mirrors, new armrest, speedo's change, new gen radio's,... onther things?

I took delivery of a My16 car last week.. includes a lot of the new changes plus LED DRLS

Yeah - facelifts are already on the road!

I don't expect the Rapid to be replaced by a whole new car until 2020. I predict 2018 will see a second facelift (again, plastics changes rather than metalwork), with a new platform launch in late 2020 for deliveries in early 2021.

Unlike the other cars in the range, the Rapid is tied to the fate of the Santana in China, where the aim is maximising sales from a low cost platform. Lifespan of the platform will therefore be in the 7-8 year range.

This is an approach also favoured by Peugeot Citroen, which has a habit of keeping platforms and models in the range way past their shelf life. Citroen C4 and the last model Peugeot 307 and 308 for example.

Who else thinks it's a good thing?

If we are waiting for a Santana replacement, bear in mind that the previous Santana ran from 1984 to about 2013, so the new 2013 one (or Rapid) should be replaced around 2042!!! :)

What? Tangerine leather?  Weird...

The Audi-look rear lights are nice though...

Sure looks beautiful from behind. I also like the flat bottom steering wheel. The wooden finish though is horrible!

Yeah. China market tastes do not look good, wildly modern orange leather with retro dark wood - if fact only that wood clashes with the rest.

I recieved something today :-)

Not from alibaba :-/ But for me the interior was to uni-color and not cheerfull.

I ll order some pieces at the skoda dealer for the front seats and will then instal everything at once. Will keep you posted in my project topic.

Everybody has got his own taste and choises where you want to spend some of your money :-)

Yes in 1984 with the 5 cylinder engine it was a quality machine. I bought an Audi Coupe which was pretty much the same car with a different body - it was fantastic for the time.

The wood sits better in the sedan with Beige (or Black) leather, but not with the sporty look in the Spaceback...

I dont like that... never liked cars which do half a job with the beige... theres too much going on there, chrome, beige plastic, black dash, wood trim and black gloss too ?? part bin special

The Rapid Toledo and Santana to a t :)

All on the same stretched (old) Polo with Mk4 Golf bits - Surprisingly good considering.

At least with the UK build they use the same bins.

The light switch in the head lining on our SB is the same one as my Golf MK4 1.8T GTI lol

And shared with probably 90% of all VAG products since about 1998 I reckon :)
