It's gotta go

Recommended Posts

Well with heavy heart I've decided the superb has to go. I've only had it 3 weeks but the seat is killing me. Went to a Physio today and we tried for 40 mins to get a suitable driving position but because of my height ( 6ft5) it just wouldn't work.

Waiting to see how much the dealer will offer to buy it back :(

I'm 6ft7, 20 stone and find it the comfiest car I've ever owned, mines is the Elegance so seats look more supportive than the base models

Where is the pain being generated?

Oh dear sorry to hear that.

I find mine very comfortable and I'm 6ft 4" . The only thing I wish I could adjust further is the angle of the seat base (that is adjustable on models with electric seats). I initially found the side bolsters much "tighter" than my MK I but either they have given a bit or I've got used to them, Found mine was brill when we did our recent grand tour of Europe covering nearly 3000 miles

Whats the spec of your L&K? I might be in the market.

It's a facelift 2013 170 dsg 4x4. 48k miles.

All the usual goodies

Park assist

Nav

Canton

Electric boot

Heated windscreen

Tv

Power mirrors

Heated and vented seats

It's lovely!

Such a shame, its a lovely looking car :(

I'm about 6'4" and had similar issues with my mk2 FL Octavia vRS for about the first month, then suddenly I found a comfy position and everything was OK. Just suffered a dead left leg on longer runs where the front of the seat seemed to cut off my circulation but a bit of moving about and the blood came back and all was OK for another hour or so.

Hope you get it sorted out.

I'm 6'7" and it's working fine for me, but it's of course individual. The previous owner had raised the front of the base, but I removed that. Might be an idea if the base angle is the problem though. I don't have the electric seats

thats exactly why I bought a Volvo and not Octavia scout in 2009. The Octavia superior in most other aspects but could not get comfy. Shame it was/is a good car.

One thing I forgot about when I first got the car - I struggled initially to get comfortable but eventually discovered it was because the steering wheel had "too much" adjustment! I was pulling the wheel too far towards me as it seemed a better position - my MK I wouldn't come that far out. I pushed the wheel back in towards the dash and everything sort of  fell into place. The steering wheel position really upset the posture elsewhere.

I also think the seat has "given" a little to my ample frame. The guy who bought my MK I Superb had the opposite problem - over 10 years my seat had probably "given" a little too much

Presumably it's not a Skoda approved car as they do a 30 day exchange - If selling back to the dealer rather too expensive - are there any other seats that would fit? e.g. Audi?

Ah the 30 day exchange isn't what you think it is. I.e they will only take the car back if it's broken. Which they have to anyway... So basically it ain't worth ****. I rang and checked that with Skoda uk too.

Thought about a seat swap but couldn't get any answers on a straight swap and so many electrics with safety systems I got a bit concerned.

So the dealer are saying they won't buy it back. They have "too much stock". now I'm in a pickle!

We buy any car? Trade it in for another car?

Bloody stunning car aswell, real shame it don't suit you
