Yeti TSI stop start

My stop / start has a mind of its own! after using on a long run with only radio and heater on does not work, but sometimes during a short run with lights aircon radio wipers it decides to work for a few times  then back to not working for a few weeks. Any suggestions please.

The car was new sept 2015, the dealership reset the stop start it worked for a few days then back to normal,

I suggest the dealer should have another look but several things can inhibit the start stop, engine under temperature, air-con, DPF regen etc.

Are you using the front screen demister on max setting a lot?

There's only a handful of variables that effects the start/stop system and last year out of 30 or so cars checked there's was only 1 which actually had an issue with the car that was hindering the systems function. All the other "concerns" were down to user error, either unaware of items which stop the system from working or just not using it correctly.

Thanks JamesRRG, I am used to the stop start having used it on other vehicles I drive mainly ford minibuses , so i think that rules out Pilot error. On occasions I have driven the Yeti up to 30 miles with only the radio and running lights on and the sop start did not work then another time it worked after a few miles. Once I decided to call when passing the  dealership approx 12 miles from home but it started working before I got there. I stopped the car after another 3 miles  it stood for an hour, I set of and within half a mile it was still working, after approx 10 miles it stopped again and did not work for weeks, its like tooth ache and dentists. I will have to  book it in again with the dealers with the hope it is not working when I arrive!

Switch on clutch pedal working correctly? EG knocking cruise control off / need to be depressed to start the car? Unlikely as the car was new in 2015 .

Could be a charging circuit/battery issue - When you start and run locally alternator will be charging, after a long run alternator clutch will kick in (or out as is the case) which will stop the charging process

Sorry 'Freedom' signature now amended  to include Yeti

Freedom (in green) is the term for the extended and paid for membership of this forum, not a persons forum name. That you will find in the light grey area at the top of each post, directly above the avatar.

My stop/start works very well.
If I am in a slow moving traffic queue where I am only momentarily stopping I disable it but most of the time it gets it right.

The cars with stop start have a higher capacity battery and starter etc, at night I cannot even detect the headlights flicker when restarting and its ready to go by the time the clutch is depressed.

I have had stop/start on 2 cars now a Superb and my current L&K.

Before I had used it I thought I would hate it but I don't.

I just let it get on with it's own thing and hardly ever notice it's there.

I don't believe it saves much fuel but it doesn't bother me either.

Sometimes it cuts in as soon as I get to the main road other times I think it manages a full (short) journey without activating.

It doesn't bother me either way, if it never worked I wouldn't be bothered other than something else might be broken.

Update Finally took Yeti to dealers after stop start only working after along descent for the past few weeks. They took it on road test and of course it worked ok[dentist and tooth ache]

The kept it overnight charged the battery fully charged and the next morning it did not work on road test. The battery was replaced works perfect now, better than it has ever done before!!
