Skoda black magic paint

Has there only ever been one  type of 'black magic' paint ?

 I ask this because my 'new' car is booked in for a bonnet re-paint, and my painter mate says he has enough paint to paint it, but is it compatible ?  he recently painted an'05 Octavia and  my 'new' car is a '13 plate Fabia both in black magic. Any help appreciated, thanks.

Then he can see if what he has from 2005 will do, which i am pretty certain will not.

Thanks for that, as far as I know his paint is new, and i won't know the new paint code until i get the car, I am only 2 minutes away from the painter, and the paint is only 10 minutes away, so it's no biggy, just trying to save the cost of new paint that's all.

I had my wings, driver's door and boot done a while ago at a VW / Skoda franchise bodyshop (Skoda black magic pearl)

Match is very good but not perfect - most noticeable under artificial light such as a petrol station at night.

Saw an L&K the other week at auction which had a new boot - red metallic - terrible match.

 

I think in general you'll get close, but usually it would have to be blended into the the other panels as it will never be a perfect match.

I am not bothered about it being a perfect match, it won't be a show car after all, it's just to get rid of the stone chips, and so I can give it a decent polish/wax, and give me something to clean to get from under the mad wifes feet. I know black is a terrible colour to keep clean and I swore I would never have another black car, but hey ho........at least it will keep me off the beer....

Belive it or not there is more than one type of black magic. Brother in law has a MK4 Golf in Black Magic. Had a spoiler painted and fitted. Guy at bodyshop had a pack of cards in a box on like a flip card. Used this to find the best match

Well, I have just found out my painter mate is seriously ill, so it won't be getting painted anytime soon...

 looks like the 'toothpick challenge' wet & dry and a can of touch up paint, oh well, roll on the warmer weather, and get well soon Gavin.
