Limp mode after coming off boost (after removal of MBC)

Recommended Posts

Hi, recently I removed a manual boost controller that the previous owner had installed on my car, and since removal the car now goes into limp mode (limits to 5psi of boost)

The Mbc was inline with the n75 and so it stopped boost spikes, but now it doesn't seem to work at all.

Modification list -

Forge FMIC

Forge 008 Recirc valve

K04 charge pipe

Sport exhaust

Neuspeed induction

Uprated Clutch / Flywheel

Previous owner said it was remapped, which I believe as it's definitely more than 180 bhp

Running 13.5 psi of boost as it's peak.

Has anyone got any ideas what might be causing this?

Thanks in advance.

Edit - Also to note: with the mbc it peaked at 8psi, regardless of how much you wound in or wound out the adjuster.

What are you using to check for codes?

Odb2 Bluetooth Scanner / Torque pro

Took it out for a quick spin today and the same happened, after boosting to 13.5psi in 2nd / 3rd it then went in to limp mode.

I then cleared the fault codes (even though there wasn't any), took it out for another drive and it didn't go into limp mode.

I'll try VAGCOM next time

If it's going to limp there should be a fault code logged in the ECU.

At a guess I would suspect DTC 17705 is what you'll find.

You were bang on, scanned with vagcom today and it came back with fault code 17705

Any ideas on what the cause might be?

Also - It only seems to go in limp if taking off in 1st gear.

Thanks
