Retrofitting Bluetooth to 2012 SE - What's needed?

Hello Everyone,

I just bought a 2012 SE Greenline, and believed it to have Bluetooth fitted as Standard. Unfortunately I found out that it doesn't (when I press the Phone Button in the Bolera Headunit it just mutes/lowers the Volume of the music).

So now thinking about retrofitting it. What exactly do I need for that, and how much of a Job is it?

Would module 3C8035730D be the most recent and best one? What else do I need in terms of Aerials or Cables or fittings for Microphone etc.?

I had a look through quite a few of the threads, but get more confused the more I read about the whole process.

Thanks,

dsab

Thanks for that. Much appreciated. Did you do it yourself? How long did the fitting approx. take?

Yes did it myself, took about an hour. Put the bluetooth module behind the glove box and run your microphone and wifi antennae up the passenger side A pillar, save a lot of hassle. Then code with vcds.

Have a look here for info its for a vw golf but it gives you the general idea.

I fitted mine underneath the drivers seat as per OEM fit. Just had to extend the rSAP aerial from behind the radio to run down to the floor (in hindsight probably could have just back-tracked and run down the pillar) - bearing in mind whether you have Phone Prep or not. If not, and you want rSAP, you'll need an aerial as above. The options codes in the boot/service book will tell you, something like 9w4 from memory, but there's apps and websites that can decode for you.

Just one thing to bear in Mind with rSAP, if you're on 3 network, you'll need a 'B' or 'C' rev to be sure of it working, there are lots of sporadic issue on here regarding 3 and the Wifi modules (D & E).

Are you sure it's module related as I used 3 with both a D and E rev module without any issues.

I'm sure it's module specific, there are some sort of sporadic 3 issues. Some people report, like you, no issues, but others, like me, my dad and mum, have issues - my dad has tried a few different D modules, and recently tried an E with the same issue (repeatedly getting disconnected, then reconnects as HFP) and we've also changed phone's and SIM's in between times and the same occurs. Also tried the same modules with my wife's EE sim in the same phones, and no issues. I've got a C with no issues, and my mum and dad both have B, again no issues. In another thread on here, someone has suggested that it's to do with the SIM manufacturer, but how true that is i don't know?
