PID connections question? Can I put a dashcam there instead?

I just bought a brand new Citigo - haven't even collected it yet - they tried to sell me the PID but I'm very fond of my TomTom so stuck with that but I wanted to buy a dashcam (probably this one http://www.halfords.com/technology/dash-cams/dash-cams/garmin-dash-cam-30-hd-vehicle-driving-recorder) and I was wondering if it could be slotted into the PID base on the dash or whether I'd need to use the cigarette lighter to power it. I'm not keen on doing so as it means choosing between camera or navigation?

Can anyone advise please? Am a bit worried I'll be targeted by crash for cash folks in my very obviously new shiny red mumsywagon!

Personally I would recommend having it hardwired into fusebox.

Easy to do using piggy back fuses, or just let someone else do it if your not confident.

That way you'll keep the cig lighter free, and there will be no visible wires.

Have the camera mounted up near your rear view and it will be a very tidy install.
