Just taken delivery of a brand new Yeti. I have had smart link fitted and can make and receive calls via this software. I can't however make a hands free call via Bluetooth. I press the talk button and there is no sound at all it's like it's on mute. Any help gratefully received.

I assume you have 'paired' it?.

Was about to say the same, have you been into the phone settings and set it up, i had to do it on my 2016 Yeti.

Very odd, ill have a play around with mine tomorrow and see if i can see anything that may be missed, probably something simple ;)

On the right hand side of the steering wheel there is a button that looks like head with speech coming out of it and underneath there is a telephone symbol. I was pressing the top button

Probably a silly question, but have you adjusted the volume whilst on a call? The volume (on both the steering wheel & on the radio), changes its function to the device that's currently active, so whilst the radio may be playing at the volume you set just before you make a call, if the phone volume was turned down low (or off) last time it was used, then it resumes at that same low setting next time the phone is used.

Not sure if the latest model is different to mine, so maybe read the manual you got with your car re the phone operation. Any other advice we give might not be relevent.

That is the voice control button.

Do you have voice control? if you do you should have heard it and seen the commands you can give on the screen.

I seem to recall it pokes a lady in the ribs and she asks you who to call.......(voice activation).....as opposed to manually scrolling through you contacts list and then selecting which then activates the call.

We have just taken delivery of a new Yeti. I read the relevant manual, took both our phones out to the car, followed the instructions for pairing, and hey presto!, instant hands free communication.

We don't have Smartlink though, just the inbuilt Bluetooth system. Perhaps they are incompatible, and you cannot use both?

On the Amundsen/Bolero manual, page 35 the dialing operation is described:

http://ws.skoda-auto.com/OwnersManualService/Data/en/Yeti_5L/11-2015/Infotainment/Amundsen_Bolero/A-SUV_Yeti_Amundsen_Bolero_InfotainmentSystem_Navigation.pdf

The little head with the sound is for voice control.

Popped into the Skoda dealership tonight. They were really puzzled why the voice control did not work. They phoned Skoda technical who confirmed voice control was not available on the Skoda Yeti SE despite having the buttons on the steering wheel and radio etc. This was a surprise to the dealership. I can make a phone call via Bluetooth by pressing the relevant contact on the screen I just can't say "phone home" or "play next track" etc. I am cross as I was told this function was available before I bought the car. Apparently the top of the range model has the voice control function.

My Jan 2012 build Bolero (SE I think) had it but I didn't use it .......she did ask though.

Odd......must have been an Australian spec......we're spoiled out here I think.

Yes - I've just got an SE-L phone works through Bluetooth fine. But there is no voice control even though there are buttons.

Second to top of range - this a mean spirited omission. And I can see why the OP would get confused.

I don't have voice control on my SE L it was an option, only standard on L&K or if you have Amundsen sat nav fitted.

I also have a voice button, which does work with Android auto, through smart link.

Girl friend has the L&K and it's there. My Yeti buying/leasing experience has been one dreadful thing after another.

That's interesting! My car came with a scratch which the dealer was too laid back about ! I.e didn't sort it until I kicked off.

Just really proving the fact that sales guys DON'T know what they are selling and WILL lie to sell.

When ordering my Yeti I asked if the pano sun roof tilted he said, 'no, it just slides open'. Obviously they tilt open.

When buying an Octavia and test driving it, I asked if it had rear brakes, 'no it's drum'. Stepped out and looked at rear.....discs.

Same salesman for both.

My 2009 Elegance with Bolero has voice activation however I've never managed to get her to actually do anything.  I've never liked it anyway :sun:
