Water ingress question Superb I gen. Who to go to?

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

So yes I was aware of this issue, and now boom, I'm one of those people too. I left the car for 10 days until I was away and this morning the water was dripping from everywhere inside, and there is an inch deep puddle beneath both front seats, the carpets started to mould and so on, so it is in a pretty bad shape. My question is, that if anyone knows a man or someone who would be able to sort this out for me. I live in Berkshire. If I take it to my usual place I'd pay a fortune just in servicing hours, and I really just want to keep the car for another year, so I'm trying to spend as little on it as possible. I'm also booked in for an MOT for next week, do you think I'll fail because of this issue? The lights still work at the back, the only thing that went so far are the park radar and the boot lights. I'd appreciate any advice, thanks a lot!

Update: Rather annoyingly it started to sound the alarm. Fortunately the locks were the next that went, so now I can't lock it, but at least it is quiet. Also a bit like Optimus Prime it flashes his lights randomly. Was just about to disconnect the battery when it all stopped, so now hopefully it will last in peace. I will get a quote this week from my usual place when I take it for the MOT (I'm sure it will fail it, the speed of these faults came out I'm sure something else will be gone by then) but if anyone knows some pro who can sort out such an issue, please let me know, as it still runs:)

Are you not minded to give it a go yourself?

Thing is this is the kind of work most mechanics don't really like, it is quite time consuming, a bit of a faff and not very interesting.  Most people on here end up sorting it out themselves.

There are a couple of backyard / driveway mechanics over at UKPassats; but to be honest it is hard to see why anyone would want to do such a job for less than the going rate...

I fully agree with you, the problem is that I don't have any tools whatsoever. Seriously. I have a screwdriver and thats it. I moved recently and left everything with my ex. It must be the ****tiest thing to do, I was only hoping that maybe someone specialises in this so he knows all the know hows and so on.. I just need to keep this car on the road for another year and then I'll get rid of it. You might throw rocks at me, but I always hated it and can't wait to see it go.
