Allegedly skoda no longer supply a service book for the superb, this is what the dealer told me when I ask where mine was for my 15 plate, can anyone confirm this please

No, mine does not have one, mine is a 2014 (MY2015) you get a service wallet were you keep the invoices from the dealer/garage... Plus if done at a dealer they have it all on computer that any dealer can see.. Plus if you download the service app fronm the Google Play store you can now see service history

I actually like this idea of seeing an invoice in a wallet rather than a stamp... after all anyone can put a stamp in the book...

UK owners have said that Skoda stopped the service books in 2013. Skoda just keep an electronic record on their systems. If you want it, they print out a receipt detailing that a service was done and you can keep that in your vehicle wallet. No doubt you can ask them to print out the service history BUT that wont help if you use an independent specialist who could have stamped the booklet.

I'm an Irish owner - and my late 2014 car (Superb II facelift) DID come with a service schedule book with a service record ready for stamping

When it was serviced, i had to remind them to stamp it. They said "no need really, we keep the records electronically". I reminded them that this wouldn't help if i was selling the car privately at any point and as long as the car had a book - stamp it please. They did.

If you want one, I can tell you the part number printed on mine and perhaps you could obtain a copy. It is: S00.5530.41.20 and it states that is is valid from 05/2013 onwards for the Superb, Octavia, Yeti, Roomster, Rapid, Fabia and Citigo).

Do they also keep an online record for services done outside their dealership?

I have always kept receipts for any work done on a car to show at the time of resale. The service booklet is not nice to look at when it is empty and the servicing was done on a DIY basis.

I have my Superb serviced etc in Aberdeen and in Girona Spain by the Skoda dealers. The Girona garage was able to view all work carried out in Aberdeen, so the answer is any Skoda dealer should be able to see all work carried out and entered into the computer. The Aberdeen dealer said it was not possible, but I guess he did not know how to access deeper than his own work.

I had to visit a dealer in South Wales they even knew I had purchased the IPOD adaptor lead that plugs in the centre console for my car when I purchased it new in 2014..

The Skoda Service app I downloaded from the Pay store even has a record of the PDI and the service it had after 12 months,,, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.inmite.prj.skoda.service

I'm with you on that - I have had two separate dealers in Ireland look up my cars history and it was all available. On a recent trip to the UK I gave a dealer near Oxford my VIN (wanted to price an accessory) and they could see its history and last service (its only needed one to date). so, your experience UK - Spain also is the case with me Ireland - UK.

I also asked our local VW dealer (I bought my wife's car from them) if they could service my Superb and if that would be visible to a Skoda dealer (VAG is VAG after all - as we know from the emissions scandal!) and they were definite that it would be.

(Probably wont use them for the service though - they couldn't tell me why the VW fixed price oil service on a Passat or Golf with the same engine is €30 more than Skoda fixed price for the same service....)

That's interesting. I asked my local Skoda dealer if they could access my car's service history from Skoda UK and they said they couldn't.

If its the main dealer in Limerick then I'd say the "couldn't" is probably a case of "I couldn't because I don't know how".

I dealt with them over a service light reset issue and on a warranty repair (right side rear passenger seat wouldn't heat) and while they were very nice and friendly, I got the impression that they (at least the guy manning the Skoda desk) wasn't totally on the ball. Had to go back twice for the fix and then a third time because they didn't reset the airbag after fooling with the main fuse.

As for the service light - it came on as the Skoda dealer I got it from (Tipperary) had given it an oil service as part of the purchase agreement  but didn't reset the system - so it looked for an annual service even though it was done 3 months previously. Limerick told me I would have to track the kilometres to the next service / 1 year from the service myself as they could only set the km counter to zero and I'd done 3000 km since.

I told them that the car  has option code "QI6" (which is variable service interval not fixed km / 1 yr ) but they hadn't a clue what I meant. As I said, it was very polite and very friendly - but I should not know more than them about something like this. I'd prefer someone who says "feck" and ****e allot but knows more than a new Skoda owner who is still getting used to the make   ;-)

Never mind, its all been more pleasant than my last BMW. Now, those boys knew plenty and could always tell me, in a very knowledgeable way, why the latest module failure was definite and would definitely cost me another few hundred before I left. They could look up the thousands the car cost me from any-bloody-where... !

If you select the car symbol... I think you may have to enter your VIN in the car data section then go back

Under that tab I can see.. car data then digital service record

They make all this fuss over major and minor , variable or fixed etc. When all that matters is that the oil and filters are changed on time , all the rest is in the mind to make you feel like they've done something magical to your car when they slip you the bill

I have kept all receipts since my car was new, but as the car is now nearly 11 years old, the pile of papers stands about 6 inches thick..LOL

I don't think the next owner is going to wade through the pile for receipts over 5 years old, I certainly wouldn't bother..LOL

Independent Volkswagen Group Specialists can often access the VWG Data Base, do Updates get Service Campaign & TPI's,

and even do Warranty Work.

Depends if they purchase the Licensed Equipment and being a VW Group Independent Specialist they usually do.

Often Fully Trained VW Technicians with not only all the gear, but know how to use it.

What are you saying that a Full Dealer History in a Service Manual that any Dodgy Seller can make up top trumps

a Folder full of Independent VW Specialists Invoices, Signed & Dated and with the Motor Factors Invoices and the Name of the Mechanic & the Phone Number that a buyer can call up and check the Service History with?

FULL MAIN DEALER SERVICE HISTORY Online, and in a Service Book bought on Ebay.

Minor and Major Services and Health Reports, parts changed or not as a Technician Decides,

Maybe Fixed Servicing, maybe Variable,

years can pass and wheels were never taken off the car.

Extra Value to a buyer, very little, possibly a poorly Serviced and maintained car. IMO.

Actually with Skoda Specialist Cars  Aberdeen / John Clark Group, if it was them they do not know their ar53 from their elbow,

and if they do not know they often make it up.

Yes it was, however they used to be very good and the service manager or whatever title the the guy has was very customer orientated and the girls on the desk made you feel appreciated. Alas this service manager moved to Dundee and took the customer appreciation with him. Girona Skoda are excellent and nothing is too much trouble for them.

As my daughter lives in Perth and a service falls due when I am back I will have a look at Dundee Skoda.

Thomson & Potter of Burrelton became a John Clark Skoda Garage, and the new showroom / dealership is now in Perth.

Maybe avoid.

@ Skoda Specialist Cars Dundee you will likely meet the best Service Reception girl any place, a car enthusiast.

(i hope she is still there.)
