vRS Exhaust Upgrade Options Aftermarket/Custom (Wagon)

Recommended Posts

Sorry for all the questions still learning about the chariot  :nerd:

Does anyone know of any off the shelf Stainless Steel Exhaust for the Estate vRS  :peek:

I've seen a number advertised for the Hatch IE Miltek  :p

Thanks

Scotty

The mid/rear section is just approx 200mm longer on the estate, an extra bit of straight pipe could easily be cut and welded onto an off the shelf system.

Them again I'd rather spend my money at an exhaust builders, you get to spec exactly what you want, it's custom made and probably cheaper.

I've been looking into one for mine for a while.

Looks like it'll work out cheaper to go with a specialist exhaust builder!

Does look to me that the only difference is the exit pipe from the back box is a fair bit longer than on the hatchback.

I'd love to get a custom made exhaust for our Estate but it might be a hard-sell to SWMBO lol. She didn't like the Milltek we had on the hatch vRS a few years ago :-(

Well say something was to "happen" to the standard exhaust. Replacing it with a custom setup is the cheaper option compared to the price for an OEM replacement.

I like your thinking! ;-)

Just like how my ITG induction kit was an "investment". All the money saved from not using OEM replacement elements.

How many OEM replacement elements would you need to get through to effectively save money? (LOL)

Is that new? Have you got a link to that? As far as I'm aware they've only ever done one for the hatch.

Right, I thought it was listed on the site, appears not, however when I bought my one from AMD a few years back I remember the guy saying we have most of the exhaust but I need to check if we have the right tailpipe section as there are two, one for the estate and one for the hatch, so I would check to see if this is right, it would make sense too, check as its only fractionally longer

Any luck on the Miltek front ?

There is a company near me who do custom Powerflow exhaust's will pop in & see them during the week

You could ring them and check but I don't think Milltek have ever made one for the estate. Considering how rare the vRS estate is it probably was never worth their while doing it.

Custom is definitely the way to go, let us know how you get on :-)

Has anyone just removed the center silencer on an estate? I've seen it being mentioned as an option to get more noise with out being loud but I'd love to know how it sounds in the cabin of an estate and it drones at all.

I had my silencer removed last month (estate) I like it. Not stupid loud but nice sound on idle and when giving it the beans. Just throatier. Slight drone at 70Mph+ but not horrendous. Not like my mates evo that makes my ears bleed haha.

As above I had silencer removed in my estate. Didn't make it antisocially loud but gave it a nice sound at the right times. Especially when giving it some on the upshifts :) it does cause a bit of droning that seems to occur between 70-75 but to be honest I completely stopped noticing it after a couple of weeks.
