Octavia vacuum pump leaking diesel

Just wondering can they be fixed with a new gasket set or is it a case that they start leaking diesel they have to be replaced car has burst the coolant hose again due to diesel dripping onto it 3eecd46de1a500fa938e578a77e2b22a.jpg

It's a Octavia mk1 pd130bhp

Also is pump same on all the pd engines as have a 1.4tdi with what looks like a new pump on it

Vacuum pumps shouldn't leak diesel? They might leak engine oil but that's usually a gasket.

Its called the tandem pump because it pumps air and fuel.

 

As long as its just the seal between the pump and the head you can replace the seals. IIRC some versions have some 'O' rings and recesses for them and the later type has a machined flat face and a steel gasket. Make sure you get the right type for your pump

Will be down skoda ordering a new pipe and will order the gaskets for it does the pump feed diesel into the block to supply diesel then

The tandem pump acts as an intermediate pressure pump, between the lift pump in the tank and the unit injectors (which make the crazy pressures for injection). The tandem pump feeds the fuel into a gallery in the head which supplies the injectors.
