Drivers door window switch

Recommended Posts

Looks like my drivers door window switch is on its way out (sometimes takes 3 or 4 presses before the window does anything) but everything works as it should including all windows and locking features on the switch panel.

Just wondering if this would fit http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1J4959857-Power-Driver-Side-Window-Switch-for-Bora-Golf-Seat-Leon-Skoda-Superb-/281922700022?hash=item41a3e702f6:g:GTEAAOSwHnFVzHHc

If it will I might as well get one as 2nd hand ones seem to be going for silly money

They're fine I guess as long as they have all feature buttons, main thing to watch for is that it lights up in the same colour, vw and seat tend to be red...If you're concerned about matching colours that is, it annoyed me when trying to buy one second hand.

Yes it will fit, only difference is that the switches will light up red rather than green.

Yeah I couldn't hack that, it bugged the **** out of me. Made it my mission to find a green one, got a used one in the end.

I'd just look on ebay for someone breaking an Octy (rather than searching for the specific part) tbh. Then you know what your getting better.

I got one from China for £10 delivered with chrome ends on the switches. I just changed over the printed circuit board so had green lights in them. [emoji12] OCD is a terrible thing lol.

I know mate, I got myself in a right pickle in the end, had about 3 switch units swapping the right colour into ones that had all buttons working, plugging in to find the buttons weren't actually working and then swapping lighting boards back...crazy, drove me a bit nuts in the end.

The car has dents all over it (from previous owner and getting hit whilst parked) and it's used to get me from A-B but runs perfectly no rust and the only major thing that had to be done for it to get through an MOT in its 12 year life is the back brakes other times it has been tyres and bulbs.  It's no show car like the majority of cars on here but it has been in the family for 11 years and has only just passed the 80k mark  ;)

Ive had little red lights beside me for 3yrs... a 10quid china special due to a broken switch clip.

i didnt realise the colour issue until after id fitted it. Iirc the letter at the end of the pt number is the code for the colour of light.

Switch for drivers side window has been playing up for months - even clicked further than it should have once so had to force it back to allow the window to work

It irked me for about 3days, then i laughed about it. Now i dont even notice. Thw red is less obtrusive in the dark so theres 0 attention draw to it when im on nights (regularily)...

Having read the blog I took the courage to tackle VW electrics and, after finding it difficult to lever the consul out everything else worked a treat.

Words of caution, don't turn the unit over, or all the white pegs fall out, and the same applies to the bottom of the case, with the screws!

Cleaned the contacts with paint thinners and then lubricated with ACF50.
