Aux in port

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

I'm a new member - 'Hello'

Wonder if anyone can help me; I've got a broken Aux-in mini jack in the centre console behind the handbrake, think my daughter stepped on the cable which has pushed the port downwards [if that makes sense] so I now can't plug the cable in

I assume I'll need to remove the whole centre console? Which looks a task in itself!

Any help would be great

Hi and welcome,

Sorry I can't offer any advice, but if nobody replies here I'd try the Fabia forum. It's the same front end as the Roomster and that forum is much more active.

Cheers Bryan, I'll post it on that forum. I did find a few old post regarding the centre console but didn't quite follow it!

Hi,

For a start you can remove one screw in the rear cup holder tray. This is under a rubber mat - Just prise it up with carefully applied slot screwdriver . . .

(The tray just in front removes with a little backwards force to twist up the rear clips - It then removes to reveal the handbrake cables and the centre armrest mounting holes.)

The centre console will then tip up a bit from the rear end - From there I don't know !

Thanks Pete, I'll take a look over the Bank hol! Hopefully those tips will give access to the Aux Port

Hi,

The screw is of course a Torx type - TH20.

I got a little kit of security driver bits pretty cheap on eBay and it covers a multitude of sins !!!

Thanks Petrev, think I might have a set lurking around [got one to remove the rear light cluster] !

Yep ! We all need a few Torx just for bulb replacement :x

Mind you they don't seem to fail as often as the old cross heads do (poor screwdrivers)

Slight aside . . .

I got a nice set of XZN so I could do other changes as well.

A fitter I used had a cheap set of XZN bits and rounded off one of my rear seat mounting bolts - couldn't remove it - said it was a faulty bolt or jammed in too tight.

When I got home the set I got on Amazon from Germany removed the self same (now damaged) bolt with a little tap and a sharp twist.

It's not worth getting cheaper ones of these bits as they are either just not toleranced correctly or not made of quality steel (or both?)

The ones I got

Famex Werkzeug 10720 XZN Multi-Tooth Bit Set 11 Piece Size 4 - 16

  • 4 weeks later...

Some what failed on this :) Couldn't get the console out, but managed to fish out the aux socket/unit and poke it through below the handbrake

A bodge but I can use the aux port until i figure it out!

Thanks for all the replies
