1.2 tsi oil consumption

Recommended Posts

This thread has me worried

I've got a 60 plate 1.2 tsi fabia and had a major service last year at the main dealer. After 10ish months and only around 8k miles my oil light came on. Thought it was normal

Sometimes normal if you do not check the Oil level is correct on the dipstick when you collect the car after the service.

Best not assume it is.

Then the Oil light might show if you use a little oil having not checked after the service or since.

Cars can use some oil depending on how they are used, and sometimes need a top up, not usually an issue though with a 1.2 TSI.

If on a Fixed Service Regime it is 9,400 miles / 372 Days,

so if getting an Annual Oil and Filter change it depends on your Annual Mileage.

No, neither fixed or annual. When I hear the valve tappets start making noise I know that time has come. I use Castrol Edge titanium with VW approval and new filter every time.

Various experience her. Many uses much oil, and other little? Different parts inside the engine?

Late 2011 Octavia 1.2tsi 105ps on 75k uses about 0.5l every 10k miles - partly at least due to a small leak somewhere at the back of the engine.

Late 2013 Fabia 1.2tsi 86ps on 50k uses no oil at all.

All 1.2tsi engines are fitted with a TOG sensor which amongst other things monitors oil level and should put on yellow warning light on if the level is too low.
