Yeti Manual G/box Are The Clutch and Brake Pedals Too High

I have just returned from a week at Slapton Sands C&CC site, I was amazed at how many Yetis

there were around but even more amazed at how many times over the week I was asked how I

found the height of the clutch and brake pedals when driving.

Most of these enquiries came from men of around 5' 6" (I am around 6' 2") and they all found

the pedals a little too high. After the first few I began to get a little paranoid and my pedals were too

high! I had just got used to lifting my foot and bending my foot right back to clear the pedals.

My seat is set back for my long legs and arms to the best position (arms slightly bent) but the pedals

do appear to need lowering to avoid fatigue on longer journeys.

Can these pedals be adjusted?

I have never been asked about them and have never found them to be anything but just right, I'm 5'10".

Also in your car description, I have never seen an Elegance with an EU6 engine before!

I'm a real short a*se at about 5' 5" but I find my DSG pedals fine. I have however lifted the rear if the drivers seat by 40 MM as I found the front of the seat dug into my leg behind the knee.

With this adjustment the driving position is very good.

My wife, also a shorty, has a 2007 Mini Cooper and for me that driving position is almost perfect.

I can't honestly say it has ever occurred to me that there was anything even slightly wrong with the position of the pedals.

I'd second this.

I have, though, done the opposite to 33q and raised the front of my driving seat.  I found that with it adjusted to the height I find comfortable, the front of the seat didn't provide much/any support for my thighs.  Having a bit more support from the front of the seat means that the muscles in my thighs stay more relaxed.  This probably does help with operating the pedals over long journeys with lots of gear changing.

The root of the problem in my (and I think 33q's) case is that the height adjustment on the Yeti driving seat seems to operate like a pivot, raising the rear more than front.  I'm told that the electrically adjustable seats have proper independent up-down height adjustment but I don't have that option on my car.

For me the important point is that the clutch brakes and accelerator are all aligned......Japanese style.

American cars (my Wrangler frinstance) have the brake much higher than the accelerator which was a right PITA as you had to lift your leg to brake rather than simply pivoting on your heel.

Ditto, and SWMBO has never complained about them either.

Me, 5'7" and size 8's.

Her, 5'4" and size 5's.

I drive my parents '61 Yeti on a regular basis since passing my test (so have very little experience of other cars) so when I test drove a citigo a week ago, it did surprise me how far away the pedals seemed to be in comparison to the pedals on the Yeti, but I've never had an issue with the Yeti pedals anyway.

For the record, I'm about 5'6.

Reading through, the possibility is that although the drivers seat

is adjusted fore and aft it may not be sufficiently high and the other

drivers are having to lift their feet to make the difference.

I tried my seat and I have to lift my leg and bend my foot (size 11)

back to clear the pedals

Nobody is saying they have to lift their feet to clear the pedals, if I have missed it perhaps you could point it out.

What I have seen above is some find it more comfortable for their thighs to lift the seat.

The other drivers at Slapton was what I meant, then jumped to

my own conclusion that raising the height of the seat  would help.

I hope this clears it up.

How is raising the seat going to help?

You don't want your heels on the floor when pressing the clutch or brake so they do have to be lifted a little to clear.

Is it because the accelerator pedal is hinged on the floor that makes the brake and clutch look higher to some that are not used to that?

Same here. I'm 6' 1", have done over 6k. miles and some longish trips.

One of the most natural driving positions I've had in any car. My wife at 5' 5" is fine with it as well.

I can see that having the seat close to the pedals could cause a problem with the angle of the pedals rather than their height.

It's normally me that has a problem with the driving position!
