Fabia EGR faults

Recommended Posts

HI guys, I'm having some major problems with our 1.6 tdi 105 Fabia. A couple of weeks ago the glow plug light began to flash and put the engine in limp mode.It cleared when you restarted the engine but gradually it has stopped doing that but will suddenly start again and run good for a few days even letting you go up to red line. It has been diagnosed at a private garage as EGR circuit. Any suggestions apart from the possible replacement of the EGR valve and cooler? Thanks

my understanding if is correct changing the EGR on a 1.6TDi is a pain in the proverbial as it is down the back of the engine and lots has to come off the get to it

have a look on the YETI forum there are some threads about EGR issues

Its watercooled aswell making it a bigger pain, Could a remap with egr delete work or would it need to be working first...

I see a lot tuning companies are reluctant to map the function out whilst the fault is present as there's no guarantee that I'll work.

They are not ideally situated and a fiddly job at the best of times.

They fail on the regular an VW AG are well aware of this. If you ask your local dealer they might be able to get you some goodwill on the work, skoda will "usually" pay for at least 100% of the parts.
