2004 Skoda superb 2.lt petrol .just need general advice

Hello all.

Today I bought a 2004 Skoda superb 2lt petrol .it just looked so much better than a lot of car I seen and I had a ridiculous small budget 1100euro.

So my questions are can someone tell me about my car ,seems to be all diesel ones people have I have searched endless pages online .

So can someone give me some reassurance that the petrol one I bought is a good car reliable etc .

It has 89,000 miles and seems to drive beautiful.any help will be greatly appreciated thank you

To be honest in all my years I don't think I've ever seen one.

Yeah most seem to be diesel alright

The 115bhp 2.0 8v petrol engine is a good solid long lived engine that dates back to VW's of old e.g. Passat from the early 90s

 

They aren't super efficient but there is no turbo to got wrong, they don't suffer from the carboning up of the inlet valves as they have port injection (not direct) and if looked after they can go on for starship mileages . I encountered one that had done over 250k miles in an  Audi 100 (I think? - same engine & similar gearbox). My dad had the same engine in a 2001 Octavia 2.0 auto - never burnt a drop of oil but was sadly written off a few years ago - If he took it steady on a very long run (with a back wind) he sometimes just managed to get 40mpg. Liked a drink around town though (the car - not my dad)

 

There are some reports of these engines being oil burners but that hasn't been my experience - infact quite the opposite
