Ordered 1749VB Hybrid and got sent 1749VA Hybrid? that matter?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Sitting on the floor in my living room is a 1749VA hybrid fitted with VC internal's (170bhp) .  The advert for it on ebay said its 150bhp leon golf etc turbo,

The reason for getting rid of the kkk on my fabia is because I researched the 1749vb off the PD150 was a stronger turbo because of the bearing on the shaft the kkk didnt have plus it means i can run more power safely with a remap etc. so i went looking for a PD150 Hybrid that i could couple with an EGR delete.

I got sent a 1749VA which is off the PD130 passat i think.

Geez, am I making sense or talking zulu

Does it matter the is a VA when I wanted a hybrid VB? It has the VC internal's?

If anyone can help it would be cool.

I'd send it back as its not as advertised and get a standard GT1749VB.The VB has a larger turbine wheel. Some people machine this out to fit a larger wheel but to be honest I'm yet to see one that works well. The likes of Turbo Dynamics don't try fitting larger turbines wheels in... Also the VC compressor wheel is only 0.3 mm larger than a stock VB so not much difference at all. Yes the VC makes a little more power on the PD170 but its a also got an extra 100cc and 8 more valves. :)

Just get a stock VB :)

Thanks faboka,

Appreciate the reply.

About an hour ago I checked the advert on the wifes ebay account history, see she knew i wanted a VB and on the quiet bought me this one as advert said 150bhp hybrid. However I checked and further down the description it said unit is based on a 1749v.

So i think im stuck plus i dont want to break her heart an say its no use.  It was a huge thing to her buying that turbo.

If I got what you said correctly, this VA with VC internals is just about the same as a standard VB.

Cheers

I have recently bought and fitted a GT1749vb turbo, I haven't yet had it remapped again since I had a remap on my standard turbo (165bhp).

It does feel like it pulls a lot stronger than the standard kkk but am unsure if I have a boost leak.

Does anyone know what a standard GT1749vb produces in psi?

I have a boost gauge (0-30psi) fitted and it seems to go off the gauge when flat out... I thought maybe it's over boosting?

Sorry if it seems like I am hijacking your thread :)

For figures a good remap will be around 1.5 bar, 30psi is 2.0 bar so somthing isnt right :)
