Quick and Easy Shine Recommendations

I've got a work colleague who knowing my interest in "car cleaning" has asked for my advice on a product to smarten his Honda CRV up before it is returned to the lease company.

It's in black and has been subject to occasional £5 hand wash as a treat so there are swirls but not as bad as I thought they might have been.

Now he's not going to clay it or do anything requiring significant effort. I've decided not to offer my services over the bank holiday

a) Because Senior Management has pre booked me to her some jobs done and

B) Its massive !!

I was thinking along the lines of a wash followed by some Autoglym SRP or alternatively a silicon wash on wash off sealant. However all advice appreciated

I know this doesn't quite live up to the ethos of this forum but needs must...

I've found Poor Boys Black Hole followed by Nattys Blue Paste wax worked well on Black/Dark Cars, both are very easy products to use.

Although there is no reason why SRP wouldn't do the trick either.

Quick and Easy.... no such thing i fear.... that said, a few options.... some already mentioned....

AG-SRP or Poorboys Black hole or KKD ReGloss are all impressive products in their own right.

... any of the above topped with a quality wax should give some improvement;

but will of course depend on the level of damage, contamination, etc on the paint.

Infinity Wax claim to have a wax suitable for dark paints with some filling capability.

Never tried or tested this claim though.... but thought to mention it.

Knowing him it will only get one coat of anything ! I think he's thinking along the lines of making it look smart for when he hands the keys back so it won't need a longer term protective layer such as a wax on top

Wouldn't do anything special.

If it's already been subjected to £5 hand car wash, just get that done, wouldn't waste my time on it.

Lease company aren't going to ping you for swirls. They assess against BVRLA guidelines for condition, and against fair wear and tear.

As long as it looks clean and tidy.

Thanks for that, I'll steer him in that direction to research

Yup.

As long as it's not got deep scratches dings etc and the same for alloys it should be fine.

However doing it the cheapest way its Halfrauds or use the Wash N Wax you see on TV.

If time and money isnt a bother then you could always go the Glare route and use that system.

As above, for a lease car with fair wear and tear / light swirling I'd just bang some Demon Shine trigger spray (about £3 in Asda) over it before handing back. There's always the option of a bit of BSD if you have any handy, as it has a little bit of silicone in it and gives good instant shine. My previous lease car was full of swirls from auto washes (before I got 'The Bug' TM) and BSD used to hide it well enough after a good coat. Unless you looked closely the shiny lustre stood out above everything else. Lease companies look at swirled cars all day every day, and like most of the public don't even notice it because it's 'normal'. Only us weirdos see these things. :D

Autosmart Topaz - done!

Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk

I concur - Topaz is the easiest shine I have ever come across, so easy to wipe on and wipe off and leaves the car slippery and shiny and lasts
