Pics of standard supsension ?

Recommended Posts

I'm insured with Flux for a few things, biggest of which ( that would require special insurance for, though I beg to differ on the point but insurance is insurance) is the vRS lower springs.....

Sadly I'm definitely going to go back to standard I think, and I managed to get a standard set of OEM springs for the job. Partly for comfort and also for lack of hassle insuring, I think I'd prefer to make the annual ring around easier.

Question, back to these OEMs wonder would they settle in, and would seem lower over time with use and wear of the standard springs I've got ?

Anyone happy with their original suspension and pics illustrating ?

Just seems some cars seem more settled than others, and thinking back mine was more the circus car ( and not very good handling, but a lot better comfort).

Any differences in the Skoda OEM part numbers which might explain mine was on stilts whilst other vRS supposedly standard are bit more normalised ?

Mine "seemed" to be on stilts literally when I had the car for a while but I'm thinking the opposite now and H&R are wee bit on the low side for me ( old man syndrome ), they are quite closer from rubber to top of arch than the sides of the tyre to the arch sides, like not even.

- I recall the opposite with standard shocks though, the top arch to tyre gap was like one-potato-two-potato-three-potato-four.....although its my 2nd car now and so long as the gap isn't hideous I think its something I'd be prepared to live with.

vRS, BLT. The suspension was exceptionally high looking originally.

That said some browsing for other vRS they seem to look a bit different to mine was originally.

This is a good example of what mine looked like (almost like the front suspension is higher)

But it may be a visual trick because the yellow just appears to look higher than other colours due to how it stands out

On which note, perhaps I'd never be happy and for all the hassle just accept the original suspension, comfy as it is looks ghastly and always accept lower.

One thing I'd regret is going for the harsher (but bigger drop) HR's over eibachs which I think would have been more liveable with if not quite so dropped looking. Still I'm sure its the same hassle when coming to insurance ( someone told me it was suggested the Eibachs were available as a standard dealer option so shouldn't ought to need to be quoteable for but not sure how true that is )

I see sorry I thought you may be in something different as you said 'is the vRS lower springs'.

I agree with you the 'gap' is fairly large. There is a lot of arch liner on show. It isn't something that bothers me as I'm not into the 'slammed' look. And lowering the car and feeling the bumps, pot holes etc, is not something on my list of things to do.
I am fairly sure however that an insurance company will view a set of aftermarket lower springs, whether they be HR or Eibach as a generic 'Aftermarket suspension modification' and put them in the same category.
Are you having to go back to standard to get a lower premium?

Not having to, just makes life subequently a lot easier with insurance options

Particularly if you've been shopping about with different insurers and want to interest them in insurering one expiring and combining NCB or something, was my situation but I couldn't exploit and ended up losing some M/C insurance NCB converted to car and had hoped to have got it converted back.

One thing I now recall seeing the pics, its as much the fact you could drive the front over a rhino with ease that looks terrible on the Fabia with how flat and long the front end is to be honest

I don't think you have to worry about sleeping policeman. In fact you might even get away with driving right over one standing up if he was short enough ;)

I guess I was naively hoping for inspiration that it didn't look so bad in standard, and may vary from car to car (maybe 2 different spec of OEM vRS springs or something) but the evidence is against that.

Thanks that confirms in my head I think a bit of a U turn maybe. Just a bit too much of a hover car like standard isn't it, particularly standing out in yellow.
