Brand new Octavia MK2 FL maxidot

I have a brand new maxidot cluster for a MK2 FL Octavia, originally bought to use on a test bench but as it's unused it seemed rude to keep it.

As you'd expect, it's in top condition with no scratches or cracks anywhere on the unit.

Details:

Address 17: Instruments (J285)       Labels: 5K0-920-xxx-17.clb
   Part No SW: 1Z0 920 943 GX    HW: 1Z0 920 943 GX
   Component: KOMBI         H20 0320

It's currently configured for a non-vRS TDi hatchback in MPH.

It can also be fitted to any other MK2 FL Octavia:
- if you have an estate, I'll switch the centre image to show an estate
- for a vRS TDi hatchback in MPH it will just work, switching the dial faces will make it look original
- petrol and KPH cars will need to reuse dial faces, I'll change the tachometer to 8k and speedometer to either 240 or 270 kph before shipping.

For a MK2 pre-FL Octavia it'll need to be a TDi using MPH as the dial faces are different.

As it's brand new, the odometer reads 0 and it's never had a key paired to it. This means that a dealer should be able to fit it or a specialist of your choice. Unfortunately I haven't for the tools to do this.

Ideally looking for £220 inc postage and any of the above adjustments but open to sensible offers given the list price of this.

I'll aim to add some pictures tomorrow as anyone that needs to switch the dial faces should definitely check the icons match up.

edit:
Added a picture, I can take more next week with it powered up.

Interested in this. I own pre-FL VRS TDI estate, how difficult would it be to (1) change the centre image and (2) change the dials for vRS ones?

Be aware that a pre-FL also needs an adaptor loom and possibly new keys as the immobilizer changed. Eddie-NL is the chap in the know if you want more details.

Changing the centre image is easy, I'm happy to do that be shipping it as it's an eeprom off job.

Switching the dials is also easy enough if you're any good at taking things apart. Biggest issue for you is that the pre-FL has very different dials so you'd need to source a vRS FL cluster (non-maxidot) and then transfer them. Personally, I don't think it make much difference as the redline is still 5k and there is no vRS branding on either cluster. This is a FL vRS TDi cluster for comparison.

That's a great price for a brand new one!

I had Eddie install one in my Pre-FL VRS, it was great, really modernised the dash.

Eddie usually travels up north and is very reasonable cost wise.

Sorry to hijack your thread.

How can you change the centre image of the car? Can you do it on a pre-facelift cluster too?

No worries, unfortunately the method I'm aware of only works for the FL clusters. I'd expect a similar method must be available for pre-FL but I've not come across it.

For the maxidot to work on a FL 09 Scout TDi what modules would have to be fitted ? cheers Stuart

Hi

I just read this thread and saw the bit about swapping mph faces for kph ones. I have a maxidot that came off a facelift octavia 2 diesel and would like to install it on my pre-FL octy 2. The one I got has mph dial face, and I need kph. Can I simply swap over a kph dial face from a face-lift cluster? I am guessing the speed readout won't be accurate? And can the mileage reading on the display be changed to KM via VCDS?

Cheers
