Hello,

 

Just about a year ago, I got my Skoda Fabia. I got some issues with it.

 

It's 2006 1.2 HTP Skoda Fabia.

 

Here are my questions/issues:

  1. Where is the Crankcase breather located?
    I have read some topics on this forum that, if your dipstick is blowing oil, then it could be a drity/cloged crankcase breather. Also I see a small puddle of oil by the Throttle Body (see photo 4). Where is this crankcase breather located? And do you think this could be the cause?

  2. Is the Aux Belt correct?
    Because of the issue above, some oil got on the aux belt and I had to change it (it got veryyy noisy), so when I went to the garage and the mechanic replaced the belt, I saw that he put it in a different way (I remember it was another way around) but it actually works great. I'm just curious if this is the correct way.

I'm pretty sure the aux belt is correctly routed. Doubt it would fit in any incorrect routing.

 

Your third image shows the best view of the (majority of the) breather system. To the right of the oil filler cap is a cyclonic separator (two M6 bolts holding its lid) that takes any remaining oil mist out of the crankcase vapours left after it's made its way up through a labyrinth separator moulded into the chain cover. You can then see a pipe within the aluminium carrying the output of the cyclonic separator across just below the filler cap to the PCV valve, with some suspicious foamy mayo-like substance at the join. The PCV valve throttles the breathing action according to inlet manifold vacuum, to avoid excessive flow volume at light throttle/idle.  

 

A convoluted plastic pipe (seen best in the second pic) takes the output of the PCV valve to a passage within the inlet manifold, which leads to just under the throttle butterfly.

 

The fresh-air inlet for the system is the rubber pipe linking rocker cover to engine cover.

 

You shouldn't have that foamy stuff at the junction of PCV valve and chain cover, is there any similar mayo visible inside the oil filler or on the dipstick?

 

Not sure where the oil has come from to get on your throttle body.

That belt has been put on wrong. Routed correctly you will have more of the belt on the alternator pulley. Installed like that under load it can slip.

You're dead right (of course) it should go straight across from crank pulley to AC pulley, then loop back round that idler/tensioner that is now just above that straight run, and up to the alt.

No, the foamy stuff is gray silicone. It is solid, has been there since I bought the car. There is no sign of mayo inside the oil filler cap, dipstick or the coolant filler cap (fortunately).

 

Not sure where the oil has come from to get on your throttle body.

 

The oil comes from the black-pastic engine cover. It was not leaking oil before.

What do you recommend me to do? Check the PVC valve coming from the chain cover?

No oil should be getting up to the engine cover/airbox, so maybe a first step is to take that off and look at how much oil - if any-  there is inside where the air filter goes. Anything that is in there must have come from the PCV fresh-air hose, I think. If there is evidence of oil in that hose, and up in the air filter housing, it would suggest that the crankcase pressure is much higher than it should be, which may point to blockage of the convoluted hose from PCV valve to inlet manifold, or within the valve, or within the manifold passage that the plastic hose connects to. 

 

The PCV valve can be taken apart, if you're careful, to inspect the insides. There are three or four 'ramp' type catches that can be undone around the circumference, then the lid comes off. I can't  remember how the plastic hose disconnects from the inlet manifold, but I think it's easy enough. Where yours has sealant between the PCV valve and the chain cover, there should be an o-ring, so that should be removable/replaceable if the sealant isn't too strong. 

 

You don't actually mention how the engine runs? Is it performing OK?

Engine is running fine (for now :x).
