Hello Folks!

My very first post on this forum!!

A request... I wanted to change my car's idling speed to approx. 700 RPM and I wanted to change the rear wiper wipe interval to say 15 seconds per wipe cycle. I was wondering if anyone had the capability/means to do this please?

I don't think you can just manually set the idle speed it does get close to 700rpm after the initial warm-up, though I've heard a tuning box is able to somehow keep the car below 1k rpm on idle when the car is first started, might I ask why you want to do this though?

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry i can not help.

But what is your idle speed now, and why does it need changing.

& more interestingly wipe interval presently of your rear wiper?

I read somewhere that using VCDS/VAG COM [re]setting the idling speed was possible. For me personally [maybe illogical to others] I liked the idea of having the idling speed at 700 [to perhaps 750 RPM].

Up to you , but with respect  your mods sound like a whole heap of uneccessary  trouble .

No offence taken at all!  I fully respect what you say/feel.

The rear wash/wipe I would definitely like altering. At the interval speed it's set from at the factory, I've found in practical use, is too fast/quick.

Another "annoyance" that, ideally, I would like rectifying is, cruise control, or more specifically the speed/urgency that is programmed into the system, for the car to respond upon getting the "resume" command. So e.g. you are doing 70 MPH, you brake and reduce speed to say 50 MPH. You press the "resume" button on the stalk for the car to get back to the speed it was doing. When you press "resume", the car gets to the "resume" speed, with the urgency/reaction of "pedal to the metal"/full-throttle proportions. I would like this urgency to get to the resume speed to be a bit more relaxed/say at a half of full throttle maybe.

Not sure you can do that. Ive seen settings for programming in CC, but not any such settings like that.

Its odd, mine doesnt actually use full throttle, past VAG cars have done though.

You could however get around this by accelerating yourself, then pressing the bottom button on the stalk 'set' when you get to your speed.

Not a solution to your Cruise Control, but if i am at 70 mph on CC and slow down to 50 mph,

i then accelerate using the accelerator and then select 'resume',

Just done because of experience of various vehicles and changing from one to another and different cars behaving differently.

It seems to me to be in control and not hand control to the car on different road conditions, many cars come back up to speed quickly,

and some rather more relaxed obviously.

EDIT.

Doh, missed the post above this.

I really should not have used 'Spec Saver', but maybe need to stop driving.

Currently that's what I do… manually accelerate [back] upto speed and then switch the CC back on myself. It seems very silly the way VW-Audi have programmed the CC system the way that they have; I can't understand their logic vis-a-vis this.

OK, attacking this another way… how does the rear wash wipe at 6 second intervals work? is it electronically via a "black box" module or manually via a preset timer relay? if it's a relay I wonder if said relay can be changed for one that say sends a wipe signal every 15 seconds?

Its odd how some are different to others.

We had a 2010 2.0tdi golf DSG. Set the cruise to resume out of a service station and itd just redline through every gear until it got to speed.

My current HTP just accelerates steadily though. Ill click resume then if i want more acceleration, ill use the throttle myself, then let off again.

It does make you wonder if theres some settings in vcds or something.... But ive never seen any.

I thought it was a normal relay but might be wrong.

I never use mine tbh. Just use the wingmirrors and hardly ever the middle mirror. I dont find a need for it really.

Many thanks to everyone who read and replied to my posts herein. I am holding out hope that someone will [still] be able to help me/I'll be able to find satisfactory solutions…
