Pollen Filter 2012 2l TDi CR E189

Changing the pollen filter and keeping it clear is very important. It affects air con efficiency when it gets clogged and on some basic cabin climatic systems can cause overheating of the blower motor resistor stack. You would think replacing a pollen filter in MY12 Yeti would be so straight forward like my other VAGs and there's no excuse for forgetting to do it.

 

My what a pain! Normally you pull away the leftside right footwell trim, remove the 2 black plastic screws holding the floppy foam, then slide the pollen filter housing cover across to release it. My problem was removing the floppy foam sheet without damaging it. It is free at the sides and back, but the front edge with all the vent holes is held trapped by a large piece of glovebox facia. If you are careful and pull hard you can get it out, but putting it back is an absolute pain.

 

I was able to slacken 2 torx at the bottom of the glovebox housing and 2 more just in front of the glove box lid. With some pulling I could get sufficient space to slot in the foam sheet. What should have been a 5 minute job was 3/4 hour!

It is in a very awkward position, back breaking in fact!

I never remove the foam sheet. Just fold it away to access the filter cover.
4 min tops.

Awkward position, yes. Broke a rib 2 months ago when I cleaned the pollen filter.
BTW: My Yeti is LHD.

Sorry to hear that not good.  Not sure how a dealer would itemise that on the bill?

As above.  Don't remove the foam sheet, just bend it down
