Yeti intercooler upgrade (S3)

TD5

Recommended Posts

After having my Yeti remapped at Shark Performance last year I'm looking at fitting an Audi S3 intercooler to increase the cooling capacity to squeeze a bit more power out of the 1.6 and reduce those inlet temps at the same time.

The Yeti has a seemingly large intercooler anyway.  Is it worth the £300 @ Darkside Developments?

Any discounts/Briskoda discounts to be had anywhere?

:nerd:

Had chats with Darrell previously. In fact, he's the reason I decided to remap my 1.6 greenline too :)  Darrel switched tuners so I wasn't sure how effective the intercooler was with his previous remap.

I've also just had a helpful PM in my inbox informing me that he's selling it.  Didn't come up on any searches for the S3 intercooler phase which was weird.

Provisionally sold anyway by the look of it.

Took me a while to come across this from DarrellGB but it sounds good!

"S3 Intercooler

The main reason for this was in preparation for the turbo upgrade, so although i was told you can see a 10-15% increase i certainly wasn't expecting the results we got. The rolling road was being worked on so unfortunately we couldn't get it on the rollers but the drive home has given me all i need to know beyond the figures.

The car pulls so much harder and smoother than before, overtaking, pulling out of corners and roundabouts or just straight line acceleration is fantastic. Even at speed the car pulls better than many other performance cars I've driven, i would love anyone to come and have a go as its hard to describe the transformation. The drive through Snake pass (a road I've driven many times before) was like driving a totaly different car, anyone looking at this upgrade following or with mapping, do it!"

I'm really not sure how this thing is going to fit. HUGE! It's a Darkside developments S3 intercooler. Slightly deeper but meant to fit a plethora of VAG vehicles.  This one is the MK5 version apparently... The inlet and outlet pipes seem massive. Can't be the same diameter as standard... thoughts?  Think I might take it over to Darkside and see if they can let me know if it's compatible. No VAG codes etc on it. Plain apart from the Darkside spray job.
