This happened to me and it turned out to be a leak in the system.  I needed a new pipe somewhere in the system and now it's unbelievably cold.  It might be worth asking them to check the system as the garage I use have a machine that checks the whole circuit and won't re-gas if it detects a fault.

Most garges just have an idiot proof machine that tests the system for leaks before refilling anyway. It won't pick up on minute leaks but a leak big enough to cause you problems would stop it from re-filling

My aircon in a 2006 5-door Octavia 2 worked beautifully for 6 years, then did not get cold enough. I had it re-gassed by Norauto.  They measured the temperature of the air coming out of the vents, having said that it was impossible to get entry and output temperatures. The control said that the pressure was low and the system needed gas. The temperature of the air from the vent was 12 degrees before the maintenance and 13 degrees afterwards. But the ambient air temperature, south of France, was hot and rising during the long maintenance. I was a bit disappointed.  I felt that the aircon was not significantly improved. That was done 24 July 2014. This summer I am convinced that it is nowhere near cold enough. It is also a bit intermittent. Sometimes it takes a long time to get any cold air and sometimes it switches off for a while.

I have seen on the site that there can be problems with the evaporator temperature sensor - there is a useful description for a Fabia.  I want to know where this sensor is for the Octavia2 and how to get at it - anyone know please?
