Parking sensors

Recommended Posts

Hi guys.

I find that when I go in reverse that I get a 5 second beep, meaning sensor fault. I then get a different beep from rear and sensors working, or so I thought. On closer investigation it seems after market sensor system has been fitted??? How much of a job to find some sensors (OEM) and refit. Does anybody know how easy and where to connect the oem's.

Cheers guys...

Have you got a photo of the sensors?

A lot of people fit aftermarket after the factory sensors fail.  It sounds like whoever did yours didn't disable the speaker for the factory system.  You can turn the volume down via VCDS so you don't hear the long beep, or kill the speaker.

I wouldn't bother fitting the genuine ones back if you have working aftermarket ones fitted - you won't gain anything.  The factory ones fail all the time.

It may be a big job if bits of the clips etc that held in the factory ones have been removed to make way for the aftermarket ones.

@jimbof

i would not agree 100%

factory ones do fail all the time, but when you shield them one by one with silicone against rain or any wet conditions then they become flawless.

At least i had done so, and now after 2 years, all working fine

all the rest i completely agree with you.

That's exactly what I did on ours. Touch wood, not had a problem in two years.

you take off sensor ..one by one (no need to take the bumper off ...it's narrow, but doable)

than take a tube of silicone and you lubricate it all around and all over... even edges , except ofcourse the top.

it would be best if you could leave it hanging on the wiring so you can lubricate all together

don't know how to explain it better...
