AUM losing small amount of oil

Recommended Posts

So since my engine fell out and Skoda had to replace the block it seems to be using/losing a very small amount of oil, im doing upwards of 300 miles a week and the level on the dipstick seems to drop by a tiny amount every month or so (1200 miles). I've always serviced it using opie oils service kit with Millers XF long life 5w 30, which doesnt actually provide enough oil for the car (4litres included, 4.5 required), and so ordered another litre of which only 200ml remains. Its had 3 changes using the millers stuff (2 before the engine fell out, 1 after assuming Skoda reused the oil left in the car when the engine fell out). I first noticed it about 5 months after my last change where the level had dropped by approx 4mm on the dipstick.

There is residue around the sump and some residue along the RHS of the engine as you look at it, which is exactly the same as a friends S3 and other friends mk4 golfs. What confuses me is that there are no drips on the driveway or where I park for work. Just residue on the engine. Is this an early sign of something worse to come or do they use small amounts of oil at higher milage?

The cars on 133k, had a cambelt at 70k, 115k and then another cambelt at 123k when the engine was replaced.

Im also suspicious about the dipstick itself as it feels quite loose as though something is missing.

Forgot how to get the edit function working so just to add, there is oil around sump seal and oil on the turbo, the oil on the turbo looks as though its coming from higher up as the pipes next to and above it seem to have a bit of oil on them
