Steering wheel buttons < > failure

Recommended Posts

I have found one failure with steering wheel buttons - left side < > buttons don´t work. If I make hard reset to Columbus head unit, then buttons work approx 2-3 times and that's all. Does this fault is similar to somebody? Do I have to decode with VCDS or update SW? My Columbus SW is 40XX and car is Superb (2012).

I appreciate any advice you may have.

If it's the steering wheel buttons then they could possibly do with a clean on the PCB. They collect all sorts of rubbish underneath and it can cause them to act erratically.

Otherwise it's a set of replacement. I found they were £98 new when looking for the right hand one. I ended up buying a wheel on eBay for £45. But they ended up going in our Fabia as I sold the car before I could do it!

Getting the buttons out once you have the airbag off isn't difficult. Just need to be careful with the airbag

Thank you Nathanio for your thoughts. Still I believe, the problem is more electrical matter, rather not just cleaning the buttons or buying new ones. As I said, every time when I make hard reset to Columbus, left < > buttons work 2-3 times and that's it. Seems like there is some malfunction between buttons and head unit communication.I haven't find solutions to solve it.
