Oil light

HELP

Can anyone try and help and explain what's going on please.

Drive normal for long time light stays off longer start driving a bit hard fast for long time light comes on quicker.

So when light comes on stop take filler cap off pull dipstick out wait let it cool down the light goes out.

Am putting in 1 litre of oil between 1 to 2 weeks things aren't good.

Am thinking could it be the oil cooler not cooling the oil properly that's what's setting the oil light on on the dashboard.

The oil is going down from full level to halfway between MAX and MIN marks on dipstick for the oil light to come on it seems to only do all this when the cars been driving for a long time as in hard fast and slow just plodding along around the doors.

The cars a 1.9 BXE

Has anyone else had simler problems that could help would be much appreciated thanks.

Thanks the turbo is only a few months old fitted me self am just hoping it's not the valve seals or guides or even worse the piston rings and seals.

Done a compression test everything thing fine good readings.

What am stuck on is why does the light go out / off when a open the cap and dipstick and wait let it cool down everything is fine until it seems like the pressure builds up and it puts the light back on.

When a first start the car up in the mornings there is BLUE smoke.

If you stop and open the bonnet and put no oil in the Low Oil Light goes out, until it shows again,

read the owners manual on that.

Are you certain of the Oil used,  Spec & Quantity.

And do you check cold to get the level and then an at operating temperature, just to know any difference that shows on the dip stick.

*Do Not Overfill.*

& Because you put 1 litre in and the light goes out does not mean the engine has the correct quantity of oil in.

Thanks the oil is from TPS and a check oil when it's cold so a top up oil.

Some times a do check the oil when it's at full running temperature and it seems fine.

It's an amber light when it comes on that's when a stop open the filler cap and pull the dipstick out let it cool down and the light goes out just don't understand how or why this happens.

To me it seems like am releasing the pressure from the engine when a open the filler cap and dipstick but were the lights concerned a don't understand

When you stop the engine, the oil that is currently being pumped around the engine flows back into the sump so if the level is right on the limit the extra bit of oil may reset the level light. Its not an exact science so I would concentrate on why your car is burning oil rather than the oil level sensor

Just opening the Bonnet for more than 30 seconds and doing nothing is enough to extinguish the Low Oil Light or the Low Oil message on many

VW Group vehicles and then if nothing is done the Low Oil Warning light should come on again in about 100 km, or sooner sometimes.

*Read the owners manual 'Check Oil Level', Warning Light pages. on Opening the Bonnet.*

?

So what oil was actually supplied by TPS and is in the engine?

The only way it resets the light is to open the filler cap and pull the dipstick out let it cool down or by vagcom.

What am presuming is that the pressure is building up inside the engine and its forcing the oil past the valves that's what am thinking could it be the oil coolers not cooling the oil down enough so it's pressure rising its self up and putting the light on until a open the 2 up and let it cool down or am a barking up the wrong tree lol

Why are you opening the Oil Filler Cap?  Just because of the engine being faulty?

Best go see a Qualified Technician that is going to diagnose the fault.

Have them check your work from fitting the Turbo.

What was the story with the Turbo Failure?

As to the Oil, 5W 40 to what VW Spec is that.    ? What oil is it?

Open the filler to let the engine cool down turnes the light off

The story with the turbo is 1st one bearings collapsed so paid someone to fit a new one he took old one off fitted new one that's all he done.

That failed 20 weeks of being on car.

The second turbo me and a pal fitted it the only thing we didn't take off was the sump to clean that lasted 6 weeks.

The 3rd turbo a done on me own everything was done new oil feed new oil return new oil pick up pipe plus all washed out the only thing that was left on the car was the engine took me 3 days to do on me own
