Towbar for Roomster

Hi

I am getting desperate, can anyone on here help me???

I have a Roomster registered 61 plate with reversing sensors.  I am looking to have a towbar fitted to pull a car trailer.

I have made several enquiries and have been told you cannot get a detachable towbar only a fixed, but others say you can get a detachable.

Some say that they can do the vehicle specific wiring and evening the re-coding but if I have a fixed towbar this will not solve the issue of the reversing sensors picking up the towbar when the car is in reverse.

Can anyone advise which is the better towbar - fixed or detachable - or if fixed does the towbar affect the reversing sensors?

Alternatively, does anyone know if it is possible to have the reversing sensors disabled completely?  or muted??

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Hi, I have a Scout which (I've been told) comes with a detachable towbar and 13 pin electrics as standard.

I only found my detachable towbar in the boot compartment the night before I was due to have a towbar fitted (oops!), so I did a fair bit of research ... essentially, the type of towbar you have fitted depends upon i) how often you intend to use it  ii) what you intend to tow & iii) the depth of your pockets.

I was due to have a detachable towbar with bypass electrics fitted - and as the parking sensors only activate in reverse I decided I wasn't going to bother with coding them out.

I have a fixed towbar with 13 pin electrics. I also have reverse sensors. There is no problem of any sort. The reverse sensors work normally,

When a trailer is fitted the  radio shows an outline of a trailer(in reverse gear)

Same here as above. The reversing sensors do sound when in reverse, but I try not to reverse my caravan too often! They also sound when I am reversing towards the hitch, but that's only for a couple of minutes.

Perhaps my previous post gave the wrong impression. My sensors operate normally without a trailer, they do not sound when a trailer coupled up - only a picture of a trailer. I have got 13 pin electrics, fully integrated,
