Great job - really love the video and the detail you have given.  Love the Reversing camera install but also really like all the other useful details like Columbus removal, trim removal, rear light removal etc.  Your video is a great resource for more than just the camera!

Very good video. One comment that when you are pulling in/through more than cable along the same area try to pull them together and not separately as one cable pulled across another can "burn/rub" an existing cable.

Fantastic work :). Many thanks for taking the time to do this - videoing it makes the job take twice as long, so I really appreciate the work you put into it. Have you a VW part number for the camera? The Taureg lowline camera is the one other people have installed, so it's probably this. Routing the wires from the head unit to the camera is the main thing that put me off trying this, but now I know where the space for the wires is. The routing will be a little different in my right hand drive car, but at least I know what I'm looking for now.

Danny 57, good point with pulling the cables. Luckily I didn't rub any existing ones.

psycholist, VW part number of the camera is 56D 827 566A

Very good video. I sort of want to add this to my superb but at the moment i'm put off by cutting the tailgate and having to take so many trim panels off. In the past I have broke no end of clips on them and ended up with panels that never fit as good as when new. I just can't bring myself to do it to a car that's just over a year old

Parking sensors are the next best thing anyway so its not really necessity

Have recently purchased a July 2014 Superb L&k Estate with the tv tuner option as part of the Colombus system. Have seen the excellent video from an Estonian member earlier today showing the installation of a reversing camera. A camera incorporating one of the number plate lights would be preferred. Can anyone tell me if another VW part would do this as well as being able to connect to the system without disabling the tv tuner.? My dealership are investigating but making little progress to date.

As I understand it the highline camera is needed to work with the TV tuner setup. No reversing camera came as an option on the Superb II, so VW or Audi forums might have more answers on this. The highline costs a good bit more as it's got another control box, but it gives you moving lines on the screen to show where the car will go depending on the steering angle.

I haven't done it yet so can't confirm this is correct. My understanding is you can also connect a camera to the TV tuner without the extra box. But its a different camera to the one used without TV tuner. It needs to have a coax connection rather than the RGB that the one for direct Columbus connection has. I think the camera for the system with the extra box is the same, which is why people refer to the highline system.

I have lowline camera installed. No trajectory indicators, but workd great.

Yes, most important is that your mk2 octy head unit Columbus should have 26-pin RGB video input. I'm bretty sure, you'll need to cut tailgate as well.

BigD3, twindoor boot handle is located slighlty different position compared to estate and therefore it will not fit.

Phily, delivery time to Estonia was 17 days.

Cheers and ordered!

I'm sure the better half won't mind her newish car being taken apart :) the cutting will be the interesting part. Might use a dremel rotary cutter but your air drill with the milling bit looks like it made light work of the cutting

Air drill with the milling bit was so rapid cutter, that you must be extra careful with cutting. If you are not sure, then I suggest to use dremel rotary cutter - it takes more time and discs, but you can be sure, that you won´t cut more than needed.

Hello apologies for the huge bump

I wondered if anyone could please link me to the kit required for this?

I'm aware it's now 7 years later so want to make sure I'm ordering the right one.

Thanks very much

All fitted and working thank you very much for the video @Lutz

I thought I had not done something correctly and was very disheartened after coding until realising the absolute must on hard reseting the head unit by press <>& speaker button! Did that and it works beautifully

Hi.
Can anyone tell me please how long cables are needed to install reversing camera? I don’t think 6m are long enough.
Regards.

Hi, sorry to revive such an old topic. I bought an Android head unit and I want to retrofit a reversing camera. Camera has a rca jack to connect to head unit, instead of the oem connection.

My question is about the tailgate switch connector size. I'm being given 2 size options :

LS8011 9mm X 9mm (square)

LS8012 15mm X 9mm (rectangular)

does anyone know what would be the correct size for a skoda superb estate mk2 2?
