Pulled the trigger today on a new TSI 110 DSG Hatchback...

Recommended Posts

After much deliberation, did the deed today. The deliberation was whether to go for the DSG estate model again or go with the hatch. Since I'm now retired, the hatch seemed for us, to be the one to go for. Went for the SE model. Took an estate out for the test drive first as it was available. Lovely auto gearbox with near seamless changes, and much more positive and smoother than my 1.6 auto Tiptronic box in my current estate. Not that I'm saying the 1.6 16v Tiptronic is bad in anyway, just that technology has moved on considerably. Got a good deal from our local dealer with a good p/ex. Ordered a full size spare wheel. Car won't be with us for a two or three weeks so time for excitement to build. Happy days!

How are you finding fuel consumption Rick? And do you do much town work?

Well my on board computer says I'm averaging 46.8 mpg long term and I have been up to 48 but never the magic 50 (long term).

I hardly ever push it hard and do quite a few local runs with a couple of longer runs during the week.

I find it smooth through the gear changes but as I've said never push hard. The mpg has improved from 1st March when I picked it up and I'm doing about 1000 miles per month.
