Retrofit Folding Mirrors?

Theres always a way i suppose.

It wont be cheap though because it was never an option on the Fab was it?

No it wasn't, you would've thought to make the VRS stand out from 'standard' models of Fabia they'd do something like that its stupid how lack of extras the VRS have.

I'd quite like them too, does seem silly for a sporty car in this age not to have this sort of thing as standard considering they were around £18k from new, probably something else they weren't allowed to have from the VAG group...

A proper switch for the electric adjustable and heated mirrors would have been nice.

One that does not just push into the door card, or is so easy to leave switched on to hot.

Fog Lights as standard would have been an idea.

Decent headlights with a dipped beam that did not require after market upgrading.

40 Euro more spent on the important stuff would have been good.

Then proper suspension on the hatch rather than weights added to the rear crash bar.

Ok forgive me if I sound stupid, my vRS is the first car I've owned and it has front fogs/DRL's that are always on which was how they were when I first got it about a year ago, I had assumed DRL's were just fogs that just stayed on all the time (Like almost every Audi headlight now and most newer Golfs to name a few).

Its not stupid, the VRS just has a funny lighting set up.

I think (correct me if im wrong George!) the LED's where the would be are DRL's (daytime running lights) when the headlights are off.. then when you turn the sidelights on they dim to do the sidelights job. So they're on the dim setting when the headlights or sidelights are selected on the dial.

The brightness difference is as if they were 21watt for the running lights and 5watt for the sidelights equivalent for LED's.

Proper fog lights omit a beam pattern to shine underneath the fog and are switchable separately on the headlight dial.

So we know they are not front fog lights because you need to switch the Side Lights or Head Lights on to get the rear Fog LIght on.

That means there is not DRL's on just dimmer units as Sidelights.

Also you would be breaking the law or at least contravening the highway code having Fog LIghts on all the time if visibility was not reduced,

and Front Fogs on and no rear lights would be silly, and Skoda are Simply Clever.

I looked into this for the mk1 vrs also, It seemed it wasnt worth it really, Im not sure any other model mirror shares the same housing as the Fabia.

On the mk1 they were the same for golf, passat, bora, sharan, leon etc etc... and even with the option of everything it was still going to be difficult.

I wanted them oem which also involved changing the drivers side window motor as that controls the folding mirrors and a few other things.

I planned on just skipping most of it, fitting folding mirrors and sorting some sort of switched live to operate the fold in and out bit to keep it simple but it would be far from OEM.

im guessing its not so much the outer housing that matters more the mounting brackets position inside?

i dont think id mind having different mirrors on the fabia if i could get them auto folding
