Bluetooth Media Streaming

Hi all

I seem to be having some issues with Bluetooth.

So as not to cause too much confusion I've detailed the car, phone, issue and what i've tried to date in the vague hope someone will know what's going on :)

Grateful for any advice/guidance

Car:

2014 Fabia Monte Carlo Tech

Phone:

Samsung Galaxy Note 4

Issue:

Music will not stream via bluetooth to car stero

Please note : This DID work, but only once - nothing has changed on the car OR phone since the first time it worked

Have tried:

Going into Bluetooth settings on the phone and manually turning on Media Streaming - Doesnt work

From Bluetooth settings on phone, turning off calls, turning on media streaming (read this somewhere) didnt work, but disconnected me altogether

Deleting car from phone bluetooth - restart phone - repair - didn't work

Car stero - Factory settings - repair - didn't work

Car Stero - unpair and repair (after restarting car stero and phone - didn't work

Several Android apps claiming to fix this - didn't work

I know ultimately it's a 'nice to have' and if i have to then I'll connect my phone via AUX cable BUT I'm confused as to why this did work but now it doesnt and more importantly how do I get it to work again

Thanks for any/all advice given

Yep, that looks like an Amundsen, so we'll presume it's a Plus unit and Bluetooth is built into the head unit rather than a separate module.

Unfortunately I don't have much experience with streaming or the Amundsen units, but there are others who will know more. Now we have some more detail, maybe someone in the know will shout up. In the meantime, how did you get it to work initially? Have you tried any other phones to see if it's handset end or head unit?

Well bizzarly when it worked it just worked with no intervention from me, other than pressing the 'Media' button on the radio.

Also in Bluetooth Settings under 'Skoda_BT' pressing the cog wheel give you the options for Calls and Media. Calls works fine, but media seems to try to turn on, but fails every time

I've also tried clearing the Bluetooth Cache on my phone, and enabling every possible combination of BT on my phone but to no avail.

I will be trying my wifes S5 to see if that streams but havent' as yet (it's very difficult to get it out of her hand :))

In all honesty I suspect it's my phone BUT i dont know. Why would it work, then not work - are there issues with BT media streaming and these radios ?

Like i said previously - not a biggie, would just be nice to be able to play music from my phone without the need for more cables

Did you say you have turned the phone off and back on again? Are you streaming from the stock android music app or Amazon music or Spotify? My Note 3 worked most of e time but sometimes it would just not behave. Rebooting the actual phone used to help.

2 other things to try, 1 try a different phone (as above) - not one you have used before so ask a friend or family member to try their android phone. Then delete ALL the phones and even do a factory reset if you can. 2 if you can try to connect your phone to a friends car or other Bluetooth receiving device like a portable speaker or sound bar at home. That way you can rule out a problem with your phone and a problem with your car if both options work then it is a communication problem between your car and your phone only as individually they both work.

Oh, last thing to try and it's a long shot but jump in the car with the music already playing on the phone then start it up and see if it just connects from there.

Sorry for not updating recently, but I've been trying to work this out.

So - what I've found is;

Phone Bluetooth turned on

Connect to car

Application Settings on phone and force close bluetooth Share

Go into bluetooth settings on phone (cog next to BT_Skoda)

Turn on media streaming turn on phne calls

Bluetooth reconnects and it all works

What i don't get is why i need to do this every single time i get in the car.

Does seem to be a phone problem more than the car - jsut very frustrating

If it's a problem with the Bluetooth sharing have you tried deleting the cache and data in the Bluetooth sharing?

Also, try running the phone in Safe Mode and connecting to the car as normal and trying to play music. If it plays first time then there is a third party app causing the problem.
