Mk2 Fabia VRS for Track day use.

So I've recently bought a mk2 Fabia VRS and I'm very tempted to use it for a few track days a year.

I used to have a mk6 Fiesta ST that was more track day car than daily driver but it got used every day. (In fact still sat on the driveway awaiting the private plate to transfer the it will be sold)

Has anyone used one? Never used an auto come semi auto on trackdays so wondering if there alright to use.

Mine seems to be ok on the oil issue too (touch wood!) so I'm not too bothered about that.

I have a 312mm brake conversion coming and a rear ARB too. It's already got H&R springs fitted so it only needs a little bit of fettling and I'd be ready for some action!

Any tips and hints on the cars for track days is much approciated.

Ta!

My first outing at Oulton Park was in a MK2 Fabia, all I did to the car was to fit a decent set of brake pads suited to a track day and fitted a set of wheels with part worn tyres as new standard tyres are no good, they melt!

I was more interested in learning the lines and how to carry speed through the corners with a standard car, I have to say the car performed well, gearbox was good too, as a start I would do the same again.

Once the basics were learned then I changed the car to something else BUT, Sharkrider had a MK2, he changed the suspension and fitted ARB's front and rear and it transformed the car.

Just go out there and give it a blast, you will probably find the auto box works better than trying to change gear yourself.

Yeah that's what im wondering too.

I find you can over egg it with the paddles!

I have H&R springs and its made a difference on the road.

I have a set of Mk1 VRS Fabia wheels coming and some track day tyres, so its just deciding what pads to go for on the 312 conversion.

Yellow stuff?

Yeah, ive used those on the ST...great pads just a bit rich for me at the mo.

Ive got the 312mm conversion nearly sorted so at least I can do it all in one day and the get them bed in and hopefully get the RARB done too at the same time!

No. Don't go with EBC pads, their discs are great but not the pads, my Croctavia ate a set of red stuff pads in 67 miles and a set of yellows in 2 days. As for the car the mk ll VRS is good, Sharkrider used his for track days. Still took a while to overtake the Slowda when we were at Rockingham :D anything is quick enough.

Looking at getting the brakes fitted soon so I'll have to price some pads up!

It's the last round of the Javelin Sprint series im planning on entering next year so I hope to get most stuff sorted just after Xmas and then we're ready to go!

I'm running ebc yellows atm. Have to say on the road there not that great as they need heat in them. But once up to temperature there pretty good. I've done a couple track days and one of them was at brands when I did over 120 laps, no fade at all and still have over half the material left.

Can't wait for the dates and classes to be announced for the Javelin Track Day Sprint Series I will be competing in.

The last round has just gone at Snetterton so just awaiting the classes and dates as they have had unprecedented entries so they are streamlining everything.

Bring it on!!
