Hi since coming home from holiday my car takes a lot of cranking to start when hot??

starts firs turn of the key when cold just hard to start when hot.

i have also had after a warm start the radio part at the top of the computer turns red

turn engine off and restart and that goes back to normal colour???

1.9TDI

anyone know what the trouble could be???

im thinking injector or maf problem??

cheers in advance

PD Engines have a dodgy Start IQ Map which if the coolant is over 70'c it won't start injecting fuel until the engine cranks over 280rpm

Its not the map that's dodgy, its the weak starters that are the root of the problem.

You could try using jump leads when the engine is hot to simulate a better battery.

Simulating a new starter is a bit more difficult.

Do this and if it doesn't improve it you can either fork out for a new starter or do what badger suggests and get the map changed to work around the issue.

Try what TDI1.9 suggests first.

You can get the Starting Maps corrected during a remap and I always do this on each PD car I buy :)

never had a remap done who do you use badger89 ??

tried the battery its not that or the starter motor!!!!!    its like the fuel has gone back to the tank so thought it may be return valve

if it was a fuel priming issue it would be worse first thing in a morning when cold, not right after it was running. have you checked the timing?

Battery going flat?

whay if the temp sensor isnt working properly cold that cause the problem???    i as because the temp sensor sometimes doesn't work i tried looking at the plug under the overflow and moved it about and the car did start even warm???
