Hi all,

Thought I would start a project thread with my new (to me anyway)Octavia vrs.

Its a 2010 2.0TDI with 64000 miles on the clock.

So currently plans are as follows.

Rear tints from b pillar, tints will be similar to OEM sunset glass

Wheels powder coated in Charcoal anthracite.

OEM bluetooth module installed

A couple of vcds adjustments

H&R lowing springs and bilstine dampers

Full professional detail.

The car has come with a 12 month skoda Warrenty so power modifications are on hold until that is up.

Once the Warrenty is up I will be looking at a remap, possibly with egr and dpf delete.

Cheers Dave

So my mini project weekend has started with a trip to custom tints to have the B pillar back tinted.

After discussing with them I am going a little darker than originally planned and My car will receive a 20% tint.

I'll post up an after pic when I collect the car.

My car is back from Custom Tints and I am really happy with the result, I was worried that the tint I had chosen was too dark.

The photos and the poor make the windows look really dark but they lighter than they look.

Next Job is the alloy wheels. the car is booked in tomorrow for refurbish and colour change.

So today My car has been for a wheel refurb and Powder coat colour change to Charcoal Anthracite, really happy with the way the wheels have turned out.

The front passenger was curbed slightly when I bought the car so decided to take the plunge and get the colour changed at the same time.

I have also fitted the new style wheel centre caps to finish them off, the old ones where tatty and I was always going to change to the new badge style anyway.

Jobs planned for the weekend:

OEM Bluetooth module fitted

New style front and rear badges fitted

booked in for a paint correction and full detail on Sunday

Busy day today, early drive to see site member Rustynuts to retro fit and code a bluetooth module bought from Site Member Pashka.

The only kit that Pashka had available included a loom that had to be soldered rather than plugged in and it fought back a little but Rustynuts did a sterling Job of getting it fitted.

Big Thanks to Pashka  for supplying the module and to Rustynuts for fitting it.

While I was at Rustynuts he also helped route the powercable for my sat nav to the top storage box.

I now have a neat nav install, My Garmin nav wedges perfectly between the open lid and bottom of the storage box.

I have a rubber grommet somewhere just need to locate it and fit it to hide the large hole that was needed to get the massive garmin mini usb through.

Back home and just a few cosmetic changes to make before I can sit down for a beer  :D

First up is some cnc machined seat height adjuster VRS badges.

Then new style front and rear badges fitted.

My car is now ready for a full detail which will be carried out tomorrow weather permitting.

Need to add a couple of VCDS adaptions See below to complete my stage one of my project.

Anti Hijack

Big MPH display on Maxidot

once that is done, I think I will hold off on the suspension upgrade until the spring.

It already has coming home/leaving home lights tubbytommy but I did not know cornering fogs was an option.

Do they work off the position of the steering wheel or do you mean they come on when indicating?

Not sure what's happening Rusty nuts all the pics are taken with my mobile the first ones are OK then the rest are really small, I have tried enlarging them but they are still tiny on here.

Same photos of the new badges are perfect on Facebook.

Ah OK I now have more options I need adding lol, I see from your signature the hazard flash on emergency braking is also an option.

My car had the coming home lights already activated when I bought it a week ago, again looking at your signature of also has the oil temp activated in maxidot so I think the previous owner has been playing.

I don't have VCDS so I will have to bribe a local briskonian on here, although I am thinking of buying it myself.

its hit and miss whats activated t, i did activate the oil temp but depending on what service schedule the car is on i.e. fixed or variable seems to determine if the oil temp works or not.

i activated all the options i could via vcds but as i own it its easy to have a play,if you plan on modifying the car its a must have tool

I see the car started life on variable but was moved to fixed after the first service so that may be the reason it was activated.

Yeah I'm definitely looking into buying it, it's just a big outlay that I a ready have alocated to other mods.

I may have re-alocate my remap budget as I'm not going to do this for 12 months.

I'm very impatient Vegasphil lol. luckily the deal I got on the car and the trade in value for my old Octavia left some spare funds so decided to get everything I want doing ASAP.

I still have the suspension and remap to do but I have put away the cash to cover these for the time being, plan now is to do suspension in the spring and Remap at the end of the 12 month warranty so around this time next year.

I may allocate some of these funds to VCDS but have not decided yet/

Next up is a full detail on Saturday (it was supposed to go a head last weekend but rain stopped play) I'll try and get some before and after shots taken with a camera rather than my phone and put them up in here and the styling thread.

Sam from Autocleanse North east was here today to carry out a full interior and exterior detail, I am really happy with the outcome.

The car was not in to bad a shape prior to Sam starting as it had been fully cleaned by the dealer prior to delivery.

However there were a few light scratches and swirling on the paint work that I wanted taking care of and then the paintwork and wheels sealing for the winter.

Work carried out by Sam is as follows,

exterior

Full safe wash ( heated pre wash including snow foam)

Paint work fully clayed

Machine polish to remove the light scratches etc
Extream elements sealent applied to paintwork and wheels.
Carnuba wax applied to paintwork

 interior

Fully brushed and vacumed

Fabric and leather cleansed and conditioned.
headlining conditioned ( it had a couple of marks that have now gone)
all plastics cleaned and treated with autoglym plastic sheen.
deodorize

I tried to take some before and after picks however My digital camera decided it was not playing ball so had to resort to my phone camera so pics do not do the completed job justice.

I also forgot to take before interior and the after shots are not very good as my phone does not like the dark interior and low light due to the tints so all you can see is the white/grey VRS panels on the seats so I have not included them.

I can say that the interior now looks and smells like new.

The first 2 photos are before and it was wet so not great, and the last 3 are after you can see a big difference between the 2nd before shot and the 1st and 2nd after shot.

I will try to remember to take a beading shot in the morning.

I've just come across your thread and watching intently. Had my candy white fl vrs since Jan and have added or plan to do the same mods as you. So far I've fitted the oem Bluetooth, vrs handle inserts and enjoyed every mile of the 20k I've put on so far.

Unfortunately I have an abs esp issue that needs fixing along with the inlet manifold error. They will be done very soon, so cheap mods only ATM. Just ordered footwell lighting and would like to do the updated badges.

Great thread, look forward to the updates!
