The 1p solution to the "No heat" (Temperature flap) problem

Recommended Posts

Depends which parts have gone and what condition the car is in.

I've heard that if its just the motor, then, with a new part, its up £70 including labour (The part costs up to £25)

If its the A/C control unit on the dash consol, then , with a new part(If it can be sourced), its £198 inc labour - that is what I think has gone on mine.

As a sole user of this 13 year old car, pensioner income, no one to impress and with the input shaft bearing and seal on the gearbox rattling like a sidewinder and dirtying up the drive with oil residues other priorities apply, so a cable tie would do me, if it was just that.

I suspect that control unit has also gone and is contributing to a 0.5 amp battery drain, so I may well have to loose that as well, which would mean no blower. I suppose I could always buy one of those cheap electric car vacuums and make the appropriate adjustments.

We could make "Shabby chique " motor repairs all the rage.

I seem to remember that these temperature flap motors cost around £100, a bit less for a secondhand one with no history, so you have saved a lot more than the £25 you stated, so be "quadruply"   happy!

Next problem, once you have replaced all these flapmotors with cable ties, you will need to buy a Dymotape machine to add some legends to these switch blanks?
