Can i load 500kg in my estate ?

I have an estate an plan to drive 1600 miles with 2 slim people and 500kg, would this be advisable ?

It's very close to the payload limit. Can you put any of it in a trailer?

I dont have a towbar and cost would be prohibiting once calculate petrol/crossing and vignettes,i could get the stuff delivered but was looking forward to a eurodrive,find long drives relaxing. Just got an email from the company and load would be 410 kg, they are quite small objects but quite heavy, around 5kg each

If you can put down at least part of the rear seat and spread the load throughout the car you might be ok. Keep as much of the weight between the axles as you can.

I'd try to load the rear footwell with as much as possible before moving to the boot to keep weight distribution more even. It depends on what exactly you're carrying though. Small 5 kg objects flying around the car during a crash would be the main thing I'd worry about with doing this, but in that sort of situation the parcel shelf isn't likely to present much of an obstacle to them either. Also consider where and for how long the car will be left parked if the contents are worth stealing.

MIke, just recently moved 412Kg of tiles in the back of mine...springs were well down, steering quite light, and I opted to have another 500Kg delivered by the company.

I'm with the others. If you were alone in the car and could spread the weight around, or if it was a shorter journey, I'd probably do it. However with passenger safety and being near the load limit I'd just get it shipped...... or maybe pick up 100kg of it and ship the rest? Good luck!

I have driven my superb 1200 miles to and from Slovakia a number of times. My wife likes to cram the car FULL of stuff for the trip back (and the trip there this time for that matter. I don't know what the exact weight was, but I would guess it's somewhere near this limit. I normally drive top speed without the heavy load through Germany (around 140-150 as much as I can), but kept my speed to a limit of 120 with the heavy load. No problems at all and home safe and sound.

I recently picked up about 350kg of tile from the home center. Scraped the bottom on two speed humps. I tried to keep as much as possible on the back seat, but there was a lot of sag. Mine is the 4x4 model as well.

I would not recommend to drive that far with that much weight.

If you do, get a piece of plywood for the back. It is unlikely that the thin spare tire cover will ever be the same after hold that weight.

I scraped the bottom of my hire car over a speed bump fully loaded, engine management light came on , I think I must have damaged the dpf cables , thanskfully they didn't notice when I handed it back
