How to get power from BXE engine?

Recommended Posts

Depends how much power you want. Simple remap can take you up to 140bhp region - depends where you get it done but this will set you back by £150-£300.

Or you can have bigger turbo, larger injectors, decat + straight exhaust, ported head... ... ... in region of 300bhp but that would be all for big money.

Lots of topics here, search button is your best friend ;) .

Lol some hilarious replies lol, I'm currently fully forging my supra and building it to around 500bhp so I don't want silly power lol just want it to actually move when I accelerate lol looks like a simple remap will do lol, can you hybrid the turbo?

You can but it would need a map to suit. Unless you plan on upgrading the intercooler etc I would just stick with a simple map to make it a bit more fun to drive.

We'll say an upgraded intercooler and remap what sort of power should I expect 150/160 bhp?

lol I'm glad you're having good time lol. If you are building a supra, lol, why asking how to get more power, lol? Any other turbo charged car, lol, is essentially the same in term of getting more power from it, lol.

Again depends on how much power you want from it. As said before, remap will take you up to 140bhp, PD150 (gt1749vb) around 170-180. Stock intercooler is sufficient enough until you get to silly power band so I don't see any benefit from it on stock or "small" hybrid turbo. Price/power wise you better off getting hybrid+remap rather than intercooler+remap.

We’ll thank you, and I guess judging by the start of this message your the resident **** **** on here (I’m afraid to type it but LOL).

All wee jokes buddy, thanks for your input, and in relation to your questions I'm wanting more power from it because it's my daily driver at the minute while rebuilding the Supra and as doing a full rebuild on a car doesn't happen overnight, I'm going to be stuck driving it a while and I'm not used to such low power.

Also I really don't think you can compare a fully forged supra turbo to a 105bhp diesel octavia, these forums are set up to help people out with the marque not extract the urine from people who are new to the territory!!

Or so I thought

Just go for a  basic remap as others have said to get any decent power you would need pd130 injectors and turbo to get 170bhp this will cost quite a bit and not give much return for bhp=cost save the money for your supra,

One of my old friends used to have supras he started with the old 3.0t with pop up headlights and i think decatted it ? to give more power that was a fast car back in 1995 then he got an import twinturbo version with the raised boot spoiler wow that thing was awsome it could destroy all the saphire cosworths  oh the good old days of illegal cruises in weston super mare

Shark remaps seem to get the best feedback of them all.

Although the BXE has been known to blow up the reports are pretty far and few between and seemed to affect a bunch of Audi A3s and VW Golfs around 2008 build year more so than others.

I had no problems flooring it in my Octavia and letting the DSG taking it to the red line.

But you really get the most from the PD engine by changing. Bit earlier and letting the lump of torque fling you forwards!

I would just remap and leave it at that as 140bhp is pretty respectable (bringing inline with the 2.0 PD140).

To simplify the potential debate please bear in mind that all cars have a specific ecu map from factory.

I can attest that the blacksmoke remap on a PD105 has not given any cause for concern in a year of use.

The map will most likely have predefined parameters which have been shown to work on a test car. As the saying goes YMMV due to wear and tear.

I see no reason to spend extra money on an old car just to have a company tweak the map to suit your individual car's state of health just to achieve stated goals on a rolling road.

I would imagine if your car was in a poor condition they may have to push certain parameters quite far just to achieve this whereas a generic remap will give good results and that it will vary depending on each car's state of health.

By state of health I refer to, air filtration, fuel filter/injectors, piston ring/bore wear, valve seating, exhaust side components including turbo. If any of these is choked, worn or otherwise below spec obviously the tuner must tweak to compensate.

Just saying.

im running a quantum remap on the work car. That's got the bkd engine on it.
On the bxe even if you get a normal remaping on it youd notice the difference with out  spending a daft amount on pipe work ect.
