Odometer display conversion

Recommended Posts

You can configure the MFA to display everything in km. Go to page 48 here: http://ws.skoda-auto.com/OwnersManualService/Data/en/Superb_3T/11-2014/Manual/Superb/B6_Superb_OwnersManual.pdf

You'll still be stuck with the analogue speedometer in mph unless you want to spend money having it changed over. This is something I want to do to my own car (similar to you I bought a car in the UK and brought it back here) but I haven't made time to properly investigate my options for this beyond buying a new cluster from a dealer (about €1200 so not happening!).

There are several options for both the towbar and the electrical kit.

For the electrics, anything that uses scotchloks to hack into the lights on the car is an absolute no-no: it must be a CANBUS compatible relay controller. IMO the OE kit is the best option if you don't mind spend a bit more: it's designed to work with the car and everything you need is in the kit for it to work. It also looks like the OE kit supports the +12 V connections needed for a caravan. The OE kit is made by Hella. Westfalia do kits that are well regarded also. I'm sure there are others of varying quality. You pays your money, etc....

Regardless of whose kit you use, you (or whoever fits it) will need access to VCDS, VCP, VAS or ODIS to recode the car to make it aware that a towbar has been fitted. This makes sure stuff like reverse parking sensors are deactivated, ESP activates towing mode, etc when you hook up a trailer.

The OE towbar is made by Prof Svar: it has a detachable swan neck. Westfalia, Brink and Witter do a detachable unit as well. Again, I'm sure there are others if you spend the time searching.
