Darkside SMF 1.6 CR - anyone fitted?

Recommended Posts

Thinking of replacing my clutch before fitting my bigger CR177 turbo.

Car has 59,000 miles and is the standard 75bhp model but remapped to around 130bhp (or so they claim!)

It's completely fine now but I feel the bite on the pedal is quite high (would other people agree they are all quite high?)

I can get a new stock LUK clutch for around £240

Or a full Darkside clutch AND flywheel kit for around £340

My car has a SMF as standard anyway so not to worried about that side of things with noise and vibrations.

It's more clutch pedal feel, reliability and what they hold performance wise since I'll be running over 200bhp.

I would be inclined to say go with something from Darkside. Don't think a standard clutch designed for 75bhp will like 200+ bhp. If my maths is correct, the standard clutch should be able to handle about 330nm of torque for short periods, anything sustained will kill it quite quickly.

Im sure a few other people are running 190bhp+ on original clutch and couping fine, but i couldnt confirm that!

I was hoping a few people with modified Fabias could comment and say what they have done clutch wise, even Darrel with his mofided 1.6 yeti to 208bhp was on orignal clutch and im sure its the same part number.

It's possible, yes. It depends on the torque output they are getting from the 200bhp, if it's less than 300nm, then they won't have a problem until it starts to wear out, so it may not have the same lifespan as a standard vehicle.

Well IF the yeti is the same (going to check on etka now) that had around 20,000 mile on the clock before the remap and was set to 342 ft of torque ( 463NM) and that couped fine, it was like that for over 10,000 miles and never gave any problems.

The yeti was a 1.6 CR FWD same engine as mine so cant see it being very different.
